Continuing a beloved tradition, I had the fun of sharing a post-Christmas shopping spree with my 10-year-old granddaughter, Beckett. Her unique fashion sense and keen eye for detail always make this time so special. Beckett has a habit of carefully touching and feeling fabrics before deciding on any garment—a practice that ensures she loves what she chooses but also makes buying clothes for her ahead of time a bit tricky (hello, returns!). |
To keep the tradition alive, I gifted her an invitation and “cold, hard cash” tucked inside a Christmas box. This year, per Beckett’s suggestion, it was just the two of us—no Mommy allowed.
Our day began with a fun lunch at Flower Child at The Domain, where Beckett ordered her favorite: chicken with double mashed potatoes. Fueled and ready, we embarked on her shopping mission, with stops at Roller Rabbit, Free People Movement, and Lululemon. This year I noticed her store preferences changed.

Beckett, armed with her carefully counted cash, confidently took the reins. Tops were her priority, and she searched diligently for the perfect ones, finding just the right pieces. She even splurged on a jacket that fit her beautifully, a purchase she was particularly proud of.
A stop at Starbucks for a pick me up was needed and Beckett chose a fun Holiday refreshing drink! We rested for a minute to discuss her purchases before going home to show her parents her haul!
Watching Beckett make her own decisions with determination and flair fills my heart with pride. This growing tradition has become a meaningful way for us to bond and for her to express herself through her fashion choices. I can’t wait for next Christmas for another adventure! Love this girl endlessly!
