This Week…Getting Ready

2025 has begun!  I’ve read many articles about starting the New Year…working on your goals…fresh starts…decluttering your life!

No matter how hard the past is, you can
always begin again.

Buddha

Back in the day (as in before Smartphones and apps) when I had a Filofax, I loved starting the New Year off with new calendar pages for it. Nothing was written on any of the pages! It was up to us to enter our plans, appointments, and “To Do’s.”

Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.  Attributed to many

Now, thanks to our calendar apps as well as any number of apps to keep us organized, we should be ready to go as soon as the New Year hits.

The beginning is the most important
part of the work.

Because I dislike any kind of paper or paperwork, I’ve digitized most of what I have. One of my goals this year (by the way…don’t forget this month’s challenge) is to complete a project I’d begun after Hurricane Irma.  I will digitize my photos!!!

Every exit is an entry somewhere else.

‘Nuff said…time to get started on my 2025 projects.
Time’s a wastin’

Have a productive weekend!

Good morning Kathy,

It sounds like you have a project for 2025 to work on and maybe even finish up (it's an on-going process). I still like to keep my appointments in a my appointment calendar even though I have it on my phone and computer. I like to look at the week in my book (especially on Sunday night) to get a better handle on days that are fuller than the rest. It's just me..I like the visual of seeing the whole week and month at a glance!

Hi Dorie Dillard Austin TX I can't bring myself to send my pictures to a service that scans them for you. But I have so many!!!

My calendar app on my phone gives me a week or month view if I want it. I like seeing that too.

Good morning Kathy. No formal organization for me being retired. That said I am working on tweaking many things so my time management is more effective. Whatever works for you. Enjoy your day.

I liked new calendars with blank pages also! Then I'd fill it all up with stuff. It is a lot easier now with online calendars!

I agree Kat Palmiotti as much as I like the blank pages, it's easier now. Can you imagine filling in all of your birthdays, etc.

Hello Kathy - although I am not an "appy" kind of person, I am reasonably happy with that decision.  Those Tom Stoppard words of wisdom have much meaning - beyond the inbox or the to do list.

Good morning, Kathy... here is where we sisters from another mother, differ. I like my paper diary with one page per day. I do list my appointments also on my Outlook Calendar, but notes, to-do's, etc. I need to see in writing.

Nina Hollander, Broker I do miss my Filofax with my day on a page!!!! I'm still a big paper person when it comes to post it notes to remind me of daily things. When I have a large family gathering, I still turn to my legal pad.

Hi Kathy,
I like my digital calendar AND paper calendar.  I loved my Day Planner when I was working. As for photos, I have a bunch of them I need to get digitized, too. Thanks for that reminder.

Carol Williams I still print out each month as a backup if something happens. I was always paranoid about losing my Filofax.

Oh man I haven't thought of those BIG calendars that title companies used to give out to agents every year.  The first thing I'd do was fill in all the solid meetings, conferences etc so I could block out time for everything else a year in advance.  Whew!  Sure is a lot simpler now Kathy!!   And what a great goal on your photos.  I should do that too!

Anna "Banana" Kruchten I'm happy to have the internet help with filling out my calendar. I started going digital as soon as it was available but there are years of photos I need to digitize. You'd think I would have already having gone through several hurricanes.

I've been printing a 12 page yearly calendar every year for as long as I've had a computer. I don't really do well using the calendar on my phone. I am very old school.

I LOVE the clean slate feeling of a new calendar!
