I almost was in a food trailer in a parking lot

I almost was in business at 14 years old in my parent parking lot with a food trailer selling soft pretzels  back in 1965.  My parent had lots of parking and on a busy road and there restaurant was doing good.  They were approve back then about purchasing a trailer and selling soft pretzels.  It was something they figure I could do on Friday nights and Saturday and Sunday.  My dad was not for it so never did it.

This was way before food trucks and my parents always figure to put me to work to make money for college.  They also purchase more land and built a miniature golf course which I ran for 2 years in the summer time.

Funny how many food trucks I see now.

Hello Will... food trucks have really become "a thing" in the past decade. For some reason I've never had any fascination with them. Maybe because I don't like eating on a street.

Good Morning Will Hamm

Most of us had small working gigs when we were kids. That would have been cool to have a food booth.

Hello Doug Dawes and I guess I had many, one lady and her husband moved from Hew York City to our area and he would go up there Monday to Friday and they planted corn in a field and had lots of sweet corn and I would sell them in my dad parking lot.

I think I would have eaten the profits, love soft pretzels. I think it could have been fun to run a miniature golf course, another sport I love to participate in, especially with a good fun group of friends.

Will Hamm your parents were ahead of their time.  If you had gone into the pretzel business your slogan could have been "Have Pretzel WILL Travel".  ☺️

How interesting Will. Your folks were way ahead of the food truck craze.  They're all over the place here in PHX.  Great experience for you as a kid.

Will, never knew this about you, but then again, I don't eat from food trucks.

Great photo, Will!!!!!  You were ahead of your time. I've seen parking lots designated for food trucks popping up all over. I've never stopped at one except at street festivals.

I really enjoyed your story and was really looking to see the photo from it, but I can't see it on my end, haha.  It says that it is AI generated, so perhaps I am not missing out on seeing a photo of you anyways though.

You could have been a food truck pioneer, Will, only -IF-! I worked all the way through school as well.
