2025 - Get moving again!

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Retired Broker/Owner AZ Broker BR030809000

I am so excited about my #2 goal for 2025!  As most of you know I've been an avid hiker, golfer, sports gal all my life.  Moving and being active brings me great pleasure as well as a sense of well being.  With that said, that all came to a drop dead end starting last December. I spent a great deal of the year healing from a medical mistake made which turned into a year of kind of one thing leading to another for me and that wasn't 'fun'. That is done!  I say DONE!  I was at my final lap of healing from SI joint surgery  which I had at the end or October.  I had almost healed just before Christmas. But then alas, we got hit by a crazy driver and that sent me back a bit. Well maybe more than a bit.  But day by day I trusted I would get  my mojo back however I needed to. Period. And here I am today.....on the road again!

Yesterday was my first day of being able to go 'walking' per se in a big box store albeit with my handy dandy 'trotter'!  I walked slowly for almost 30 to 40 minutes (and I found a fabulous art piece - bonus)!  Today I had my first PT session at my house and it wasn't pretty but oh I knew it's exactly what I needed.  My gal is so good and knows me well and how determined I am to get back to normal. She's on board with helping me - and gave me the red light for more walking, walking walking!

Today after the PT session Gary and I went on a picnic to relax just a bit as I was bushed.  But then I absolutely knew I had to go walking again today even if I was hurting.  So that's what we did.  I walked about 40 minutes or so at Costco and picked up a few needed items.  So this new 'get my strength back plan' has side benefits! Who knew!! LOL

I am going to keep a log of my walking and strength exercises as it's motivational for me to see the progress.  And of course I'll keep track of how I'm feeling and improving.  My goal is at some point  to walk for a bit on the bottom of the mountain trail I used to hike up.  I look up at that hill every day from my house and wish I could still be out there.  Getting back on the top may or may not be possible over time. And that's fine by me......just being outside in nature and getting back to taking pictures -like my photo above and below works for me!  One thing I do want to do, which could be a ways away yet is play at least 9 holes of golf with Carol Williams and Gary!  Heck I'll be happy to ride along in the cart until that day! Fun! Fun! Fun!

Thanks again Leanne Smith and Will Hamm for hosting this challenge.  It has been very motivational for me to focus as well as share my plans for 2025!

PS My first goal has been achieved! Low and behold (after my come to Jesus talk on Thursday), first thing Monday morning the insurance company deposited cash in my account for my totaled car. I picked up the new car Monday afternoon and it's awesome - a Lincoln Nautilus. Better than I had imagined so all worked out as I had planned and imagined in my mind. YES!

Anna- good for you!!! I have every bit of faith that you will continue to "get moving" again. Bit by bit...you will make it happen. There's nothing like starting the day off with a walk outdoors...even if for just a few minutes. It's been cold here but Larry and I have been out by 7:30 bundled up like it was colder than it was!  If anyone can make this happen, it's YOU.

Hello Anna - reading this post makes me think that the saying, one step at a time is figurative and literal simultaneously.  That sounds like bonus point time to me.  Keep up the good work.    🚶‍♀️

Hi Michael Jacobs and you are so right, it truly has been one step at a time. I so look forward to the left leg being strong again. The right one needs a break - well not really a break.....let's call it a recess!!  LOL

Good morning Anna. May you continue to recover at a rapid pace and soon be able to post about your walk along the bottom of the mountain trail. Waiting for it! Maybe you joining Gary and Carol at the practice range? Enjoy your day.

Hey Wayne Martin  don't think the pace is going to be fast but I'll get there as quick as I can. As for the practice range........no swinging clubs anytime soon for me.  I am patient.

I am SO glad to hear you are moving again - it's amazing how many steps we can do in those big stores. Keep on going! You've got this!

Hi Kat Palmiotti yup one can get a lot of steps in at the big box stores!  You know, a lot of folks do just that in the summer when it's too darn hot out to walk outside.  I can always tell who the 'walkers' are!  And now it's me too!

Hello, Miss Anna "Banana" Kruchten 🍌🍌🍌
Walking is just so good.  Most of us don't do enough of it.

Being out in nature is good for the soul.  You have a great combination for healing and restoration.

So happy to know you are on the mend and have your new car!

Hi Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist walking is a healer in many ways, isn't it.  I for one would be out on 'my' mountain every day if I could be. I love it that much.  But,, I am fine doing what I can do now....as it's a huge step from where I was!  Oh.....and the new car is great!

My wife, Dolores, still has mobility issues long after her hip replacement surgery. She misses her golfing.

Hi Roy Kelley I'm sorry to hear that Delores is still having issues.  That is no fun.  I totally understand why she misses playing golf.

Well you can't keep a GOOD woman down as you have so aptly demonstrated. I never heard of a Lincoln Nautilus and had to look up a photo of one.  Very nice. Thank you for your second entry and congrats on achieving your first goal.

Yes I am doing everything in my power to take each step by step and not make any stupid steps. Which is easy to do sometimes in this situation as I don't know what sets what off.
