Another update about the Pacific Palisades fires....

Sadly, with a heavy heart I am giving another update about the Pacific Palisades fires.

 www.endrebarath.com

The recent devastating fires in Pacific Palisades and in Malibu have left many families without homes, belongings, or a sense of stability.  The fires continue and as of this afternoon were only 8 per cent contained. I am only focusing on these two areas right now for the purpose of this update. This tragedy has not only destroyed properties but also shaken the hearts and spirits of those impacted.

The fire has already consumed around 20,438 acres. Sadly, many businesses and restaurants along Pacific Coast Highway and Sunset Blvd to name a few, have been burned to the ground. The business owners as well as their employees who lost their living and income are in my thoughts.

During these difficult times, we need to stand united as a community and remain dedicated to supporting one another and rebuilding our neighborhoods.

Now with that said here are some additional need to know information:

  • Pacific Coast Highway aka Route 1: southbound between Malibu Canyon Road and in Santa Monica from the 10 Freeway, northbound closed from McClure tunnel.
  • Topanga Canyon Blvd also known as route 27: fully closed between PCH and Mulholland Drive

Basically, the winds have shifted back towards the Malibu area.

As of this date some of my favorite Restaurants have burned to the ground:

  1. The Reel Inn: a great reasonably priced nothing fancy but great seafood restaurant on PCH. We have eaten there often when we wanted good food not just fancy ambiance.
  2. Rosenthal Wine Bar: since you know we are wine lovers some might think I am a wine snob, hence I will miss it dearly
  3. Moon Shadows. This restaurant has special meaning to me, I still remember Diane’s parents enjoying the view and the food. Needless to say, all of Diane’s relatives who came out visiting had the pleasure of eating there. It was a reasonably priced seafood restaurant with fantastic ocean view. Everyone was looking forward to peek at the famous celebrity actor who considered it his regular eating place. If you did not remember it was Mel Gibson.

Despite the challenges, the incredible outpouring of support from across the nation has been truly inspiring. Thank you to everyone who has stepped up during these difficult times and reached out to me asking how they could help.

Good morning Endre. The disaster caused by man can be rebuilt by man but will try and break the patience of many along the way. The devastation is incredible.

What a terrible tragedy that isn't behind us yet. I truly hope these winds die down so more progress can be made on stopping the fire.

It seems like some high priced areas are being affected greatly and hopefully the powers that be will make some changes so that something like this never happens again.  I pray for all those affected and hope that all fires will be contained and put out sooner, rather than later.

Thank you, Endre, for your update. I've been following the news throughout each day and still can't wrap my mind around this disaster. I can't imagine how you are doing so up close and personal. So little we can do from across the country except to send donations. I was just listening to a private chef who is now preparing and delivering meals for the first responders. There are so many aspects to what's needed out in the field.

Surreal! I no longer live in Los Angeles, but the scope of this fire is off the charts, it's the costliest natural disaster in U.S. history and now headed towards Brentwood and Encino. I've been to the incredible "Moonshadows" and another Malibu restaurant named "Cholada Thai" that had also been destroyed.

We can hope the death toll stays relatively low, but the perfect storm of incompetence changes the dynamics of several things, including the Los Angeles real estate game in the coming years.

Good Morning Endre Barath, Jr.

It is beyond words to witness these fires and devastation from afar. I've seen nothing like this since Vietnam. Everyone there is in my thoughts and prayers as well as the firefighters and all those providing assitance.

Endre my heart is very heavy for all of you affected by this devastating catastrophe. It's so believable. Mel Gibbons was on a show last night talking about it all including the loss of his home. He shed a lot of light on the incredible lack of common sense leadership. I still can't comprehend how there was zero planning and scarce resources...criminal. I estimates in damage are far over 200B. And as you kept us informed, re-building is going to be a nightmare full of red tape.  God Be With You ❤️

Hello Endre Barath, Jr. while it is hard to watch the fires, I have "the News" on all day long listening in the background.  So many thoughts swirling in my brain . None of which would be shared publically.

The stories coming out of LA are just heart breaking. At this point the fires represent 150% of the land in Manhattan for comparison. I wish you, your family and friends safety.

Endre- I've been watching the news as well and thank you for giving us your update!!! I saw the same interview with Mel Gibson as Anna "Banana" Kruchten did last night. There will be time for finger-pointing but in the meantime, I appreciate the focus being placed on aiding those who've lost their home and helping our dear 4 legged friends.

Stay safe and keep us updated.
