As I pondered my third post for the January Active Rain Challenge, hosted by Leanne Smith and Will Hamm, I came across a quote that stopped me in my tracks:
"Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?"
— Mary Oliver
This question resonated deeply as I reflected on the events of the past year, moments that have shaped my perspective on success and what truly matters.
Watching the devastating fires in California and hearing a 90-year-old man recount how his home of 60 years vanished in a cloud of smoke was heartbreaking. It served as a poignant reminder of how fleeting our life as we know it can be.
This past spring, I lost my sister after her long battle with Parkinson’s. Despite her body failing her, she radiated grace and resilience, finding joy in the smallest things—like sitting on her back porch and listening to the birds.
My brother’s fight continues as he undergoes chemo for a tumor in his lung, after having beaten pancreatic cancer four years ago. His determination to live fully inspires me. Even now, he’s skiing with his grandchildren at their condo in Hidden Valley, sharing unforgettable moments with a granddaughter who, at just five years old, skis independently.
Life, as unpredictable and challenging as it is, has a way of sharpening our focus.
Recently, I read a post in Carol Williams Saturday Series by Denise Lones that brought clarity to my thoughts: true success is not just about numbers; it’s about staying anchored to your core values.
After losing Geno, real estate became my refuge. Staying busy was my way of coping with his absence. Then, the pandemic and shifts in the industry, like the NAR lawsuit, forced me to reexamine my “why.” I reconnected with old friends, built new relationships, and realized something vital: my “why” is rooted in family and friendships first, with real estate coming second.
Life is short, and we are not promised tomorrow.
With over 33 years in real estate, I’m blessed with a loyal network of past clients and referrals. My focus for 2025 is to deliver exceptional service to those I genuinely want to work with. It’s not about the quantity of transactions but the quality of relationships.
My vision for success has never been clearer: aligning my business with my personal passions, staying true to my core, and cherishing the time I have with the people who matter most.
Success in 2025, for me, isn’t just about achieving goals—it’s about living intentionally, embracing what makes life meaningful, and staying committed to my “why.”
Here’s to living our one wild and precious life with purpose, clarity, and heart!
