Margaret, maybe it's an REO thing, but was just looking at an MLS listing that a potential buyer contacted me about.  The listing agent had no personal number listed, just the general office number.  The co-listing agent listed the office number as her personal number.

I know I've encountered the same as you on ActiveRain, no phone number or email readily available.  It's so handy to put the info into a blog signature and have it apparent for everyone.

Hi Margaret- I couldn't agree more. And it's not just on the ActiveRain site but on other websites as well. We shouldn't make consumers, readers, and viewers have to jump through hoops to reach us. I asked someone where their phone number was on their site and they chose to omit it. They didn't want all the phone calls. Guess what...!

It boggles my mind how many professionals don't make their contact info more visible. Making it easy to contact them should be top priority.

Hello Margaret - I too like your feature image.  And it's an appropriate graphic because the issue is one of my "pet peeves".  Contact information - email, phone or pony express directions make things KISSable (you know, keep it simple, stupid).  And if you are in the real estate business - location is so important.  Where is the area of you serve.  I digress. . .

Margaret, first of all your featured image of a cat will grab anyone's attention. I agree with you that a phone number should be very visible, especially if you work real estate. Another point I'd like to make is that there are realtors who make their phone numbers visible, but you call and get a voice message with no return call.  Then you text and get no response (I guess this could be a different blog.)  Joe

I'm tired of spam calls and texts from my real estate days, so I've ditched my phone number. Email is now the best way to reach me, with text as a backup option. Phone calls? It's not my thing, as I have hard hearing (despite my hearing aid), especially on the phone.

Margaret it is funny you should be writing this blog this week.  Earlier in the week I was trying to contact an ActiveRain member and it took me much longer than it should have for me to find a phone number.

I'm so glad that Carol Williams featured your post as I missed it! You are so right...you do not want to be a secret agent! List you phone number and email where everyone can see it. You are right it's not the job of clients to remember!!

There is a 2nd step to having the number: Answer the phone when it rings.  I get so tired of trying to reach someone. Text, Email, and call do not reach them with enough force to get a callback.  Three hours later, I got the excuses.  Excuses do not sell the property or solve the issue I needed answers on.

YES! I hate it when agents and business people in general hide their phone number and their address. I am a phone caller and personal note writer. You're in business, you don't get to hide, unless you wish to also hide from your money and opportunities to be referred and networked with to earn even more money. Then there's the flipside, when people don't know my info - yet if you Google me, I fill the first two pages of the search results. I'm the least likley guy to go "on the lam" because I'm very public and searchable. The harder someone is to communicate with, the broker they will become. I don't mean real estate broker 😉.
