Plan A and Plan B
2025 is going to be a very interesting and fun year. It will be split in two parts.
Plan A is Jan 1 until May 31. If you may recall, I sold my company to my lead inspector Luke in September last year. We completed 649 inspections last year with an increase of 29. The average inspection fee increased $16 over 2023. Luke has made several significant and profitable changes in the services offered to our homebuyer clients. We now do radon testing as well as sewerscope inspections. These two services, while not done on every single inspection, have been enough to increase the avereage inspection fee over $50 since September. That is a major increase over a year of approximately $32K. He has applied for a license in the neighboring state of Indiana, which will be another boost in sales. We hired a new young inspector who has been amazing in his first several months. My role for this period has been to continue to handle scheduling, the marketing and promotion for the company, social media, realtor events and work on getting new offices to use our service. We have mutually agreed that when my wife retires the end of May, that I would turn over these duties to another person, not yet hired.
Plan B is very much a work in progress. My wife and I have never travelled a whole lot, but there are countless places we would love to visit. There are so many beautiful sites in the United States we have never seen before and now is the time to do it. Basement at the Alamo comes to mind. If you get this, you get it.
I have hundreds of books I've been meaning to read. I will still work at my local bicycle repair charity once a week. I started doing a type of art called mandala about 2 years ago and from what I've been told, they are pretty good. Templates and rulers and markers, not computer art. See for yourself.

It's a very relaxing hobby and at some point, I will have enough completed to put together a collection for an adult coloring book. Not the gold and silver ones, those are ready to frame and hang. My wife is ready to go and hopefully our health will continue to allow us to do the things we always dreamed of doing.
