My Fourth Post for the Fun January Challenge!!

By
Real Estate Technology with http://www.medicalandspaconsulting.com

It is very hard to believe that January is fading away.  Soon i will be Valentine's day, St Paddy's day (yay) and Easter!!!

My final installment focuses on AFTER our start, plan, implementation and execution. Do we look at the result and critically analyze the result. We need to make HONEST analysis of the results and determine the aspects that went well and what did not go as expected.

Naturally, our next step is to see if we can replicate that positive results and minimize the results that failed to meet expectation.  In order to properly analyze the results, we must establish goals and metrics that we will judge later. I believe that we tend to establish goals and not follow through on. It is human nature because our energy is highly focused at the beginning of a plan but it tends to wane during the implementation and execution phases.

An integral part of this is to share the initial expectations with friends or colleagues and then ask them whether you were successful...or could have been MORE successful in your plan. Tell them in advance that you will respect their opinion regardless of their perceived outcome,. This is important because it is my experience that friends and colleagues MAY be hesitant to tell you how they REALLY feel!! Maybe that is where the (sarcastic) phrase "tell me what you REALLY feel" came from.

So there you have it....a complete plan and method to determine success or failure!!

Welcome to February...I wonder what that challenge will be??

Good morning Paddy. Over the years as a managing broker I have seen some elaborate business plans by associates that ended up only being an exercise in writing business plans. Why? Associates never followed the plan or executed on any of the steps. They never held themselves accountable. They never assessed. They never adapted and they never changed. A business plan is only a dream without execution. Enjoy your day.

Very good points and why I believe strategic must be in the concept of a business plans. Paraphrasing Dwight Eisenhower, plans are worthless, planning is everything. My sense those associates did not engage in true strategic planning.

I do not do the challenges (mostly because I do not believe they should involve points). I enjoy reading them. Good post.

Glad you enjoyed. I do engage in challenges as those challenges prompt me to think a little differently and I also enjoy reading the responses of others.

As Michael Jacobs suggested this fourth and final post wraps a ribbon and places a bow around the first three postings. Thank you and I too wonder what the February challenge will be.
