Nebraska has had a warm spell the past week after some extremely cold temps.
Our daughter had planned on putting new siding on her home this fall and it should have been done 2 or 3 months ago but a door was not built as ordered and that messed up the timing.
To top this all off...she wanted the house done before her baby was born.
The company doing the work I have 100% confidence in and I have done over $7,000,000 worth of business with the owner in the past 7 years. He is one of my "super" clients!
Too shorten the story:
Let's Do a Timeline:
Note that Jaime lives in the country about 20 miles from our house.
Earlier in year a severe storm went through the area.
Late July, 2024 scheduled for New Roof - Measured for siding quote.
Early August, 2024 Roof Done; partial Insurance coverage.
New Garage Door Installed. Grandpa moved the main header up a foot to accomodate an 8' high door. (Grandpa is me)
Early September, 2024: Siding job ordered on the books to include new doors...2 to be custom made. Jaime wants done before baby is born.
December 27th - Doors finally arrive after being re-built correctly.
Siding scheduled for January, 2025
December 31 - Baby Everett is born at 8:30 pm. All goes well. 8# 11oz
Jan 2, 2025 - 3:30 AM Jaime has a seizure in hospital. Scans show a grade 2 Glioma on right frontal lobe. Our family has a Surgeon in the Chicago area who referred us to University of Colorado - Anschutz. ( we are so fortunate this happened)
Jan 4, 2025 - Head to Aurora, CO to meet with Neurosurgeon on Monday, Jan 6.
Jan 6, 2025 - Meet with Dr Ung and schedule surgery for 1-24-25.
Jan 7, Head back to Nebraska. Baby everett is doing fantastic in the truck!!
Somewhere during this part of the month we had below zero temps- so no work.
Jan 23, 2025 - Head to Colorado Siding crew to start that day weather permitting.
Jan 23, 2025 - Initial questions about removing the old siding and unused attachments such as old satellite dish, phone cable, etc.
Jan 24, 2025 - 5:30 am Check in for 5.5 hour surgery
Jan 24, 2025 - Roughly 1:30 pm Jaime is wheeled into ICU from Surgery
Jan 24, 2025 - Siding crew begins removing siding on home in Nebraska.
Jan 27, 2025 - 10 AM- Meet with Surgeon and he is extremely optomistic. Which of course makes us very happy. Set up meeting to go back in 3 weeks.
Jan 27, 2025 - 2:00 pm Head home to Nebraska following the meeting & discharge. Baby Everett left earlier in the day with his other grandparents.
Jan 27, 2025 - 7:30 pull into Jaime home and see most of the siding off the house.
The house has a syrofoam block filled with concrete foundation. I love this foundation but it does present re-siding issues.
Took the crew over a full day to figure out how to correctly attach the new siding to last 30 or 40 years. You can see the walkout has more of the blocks.
Jan 28th to today: Jaime is recovering but the noise from the hammers, nail guns, saws, air compressor, etc are very hard for her to handle. Most days she and my wife and Everett have came to town. Her friends are newer Moms and have been a huge blessing and help for Jaime and Robyn and Everett.
Jan 31 - The girls & Everett stayed at the house even though the siding crew is still working. Jaime has had some friends come out to see her.
Jan 1 to Jan 31, 2025 3:14 pm CT I am trying to run a real estate company while on the run. Technology is a blessing for me as I am able to do most things on the go.
I have however, lost some business this month as a result of not being available for them. I would give up ALL business if that is what is needed to get my daughter well. I think most of you would too!
Watch for more photos to come as I have to end this and head to the country.
Until Next Time...Stay Positive and I strongly encourage all to smile...I saw a lot of folks in that hospital that would trade places with almost all of us. m
