Motivational Monday – Got Talent or Mediocrity?

By
Real Estate Agent with Dirt Road Real Estate SA676002000

These words by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle look at both side of the same coin. The coin is each of us.

Mediocrity knows nothing higher than itself,

but talent instantly recognizes genius.

We often acknowledge others who have talent, who are true professional real estate agents.  These are the agents when we see their phone numbers or emails we inwardly smile knowing if a real estate transaction happens the end result between us as agents will be positive.

We also recognize those agents from their past behaviors have demonstrated mediocrity in the past. Real estate transactions with these agents is often like pulling hen’s teeth.

Talent is a skill and can be developed. For example, understanding the real estate contracts and other documents. Then writing up the information for the MLS with clear and specific directions.  Additionally, undertaking one’s due diligence by gathering any permits, flood zone maps, well registry, etc.

Every Monday we have a new opportunity to begin the week with a focus on our talents. We may wish to consider asking ourselves these questions:

  • How can I better myself to be one of the best professional real estate agents in my area of competence?
  • What particular area of real estate should I focus on this week?
  • What particular area of human nature should I focus on this week?
  • What can I do to further the trust I have developed with my clients?

Hopefully, each day we as professional real estate agents we continue to hone our talents and not settle for mediocrity.

“Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God.” Leo Buscaglia

“I really believe that everyone has a talent, ability, or skill that he can mine to support himself to succeed in life.”

Dean Koontz

“Everybody has talent, it’s just a matter of moving around until you’ve discovered what it is.”

George Lucas

“Never confuse the size of your paycheck with the size of your talent.”

Marlon Brando

“Talent hits a target no one else can hit;

Genius hits a target no one else can see.”

Arthur Schopenhauer

Good morning Leanne. Success is doing the best you can all the time and continuing to improve upon your best. The journey is more important than the inn. Preparation is the journey. And the quote by Arthur Schopenhauer is the Inn. Enjoy your day.

Hello Leanne - excellent selection of quotes to underscore your post.  Although I can't say I 'agree" with these words - this quote attributed to Albert Einstein, says much about the subject and the man.  I have no special talent.  I am only passionately curious.

I saw that quote and I agree with the Einstein's sentiment. The quotes I often share are not necessarily for agreement but rather for pondering.

You are more than welcome Lew Corcoran Agreed we must continue to strive for excellence.  This quote by Aristotle comes to mind:

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit”
