On January 16, 2025, The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Remodeling Market Index (RMI) increased 5 points to 68 points in the 4th quarter of 2024 from 63 points in the 3rd quarter of 2024.
The current market conditions index gained 3 points to 75 points in the 4th quarter of 2024 from 72 points 3rd quarter of 2024.
The major additions and alterations higher 8 points to 75 points in the 4th quarter of 2024 from 67 points 3rd quarter of 2024.
The moderately sized remodeling projects grew 2 points to 73 points in the 4th quarter of 2024 from 71 points 3rd quarter of 2024.
The demand for smaller additions and alterations lower 1 point to 76 points in the 4th quarter of 2024 from 77 points 3rd quarter of 2024.
NAHB Chief Economist Robert Dietz, stated “Not only did the current conditions index for $50,000-plus projects show the greatest increase during the quarter, but the share of remodelers doing whole house remodeling reached a record high of 62%. This has significant implications for supply chains because large remodeling projects are more likely to use building products purchased directly from the manufacturer, or a manufacturer’s distribution center, rather than a retail outlet.”
