Furniture sale

By
Home Stager with Hallmark Sotheby's International Realty & Joyce's Interiors

I have clients whose home I just put under agreement and had staged, they asked if I would assist them with a furniture sale. I didn't hesistate to agree.

We're first going to offer the items to the perspective Buyers, but then whatever is remaining they will sell. They have a home full of furniture, in good condition, and just have tired of it.

I have no idea what to charge for my time and effort.  A flat fee, percentage of total sold?

In addition I will place ads, at their cost.

Any thoughts would be gratefully welcome.

Thank you.

Joyce

I do this quite often and in fact just finished one this week.

My charge is by the hour.

The biggest thing that you have to find out is 'Are they in this to make money?   Or clean things out while someone is paying them to take things out the door"

You have to be good at your pricing.

My sales are listing in estatesales.net only and that brings in a ton of buyers.

Virginia;

Thank you so much for the information and website.  It makes a lot of sense for me to charge by the hour.

Check out www.StagersLIST.com you can do a storefront for just $20.00 a month and have your very own Virtual Consigment shop. That is how I deal with my clients furniture and items they want to sell. I sold a few items for a client just a week or so back. They sold as soon as I listed them to a local stager. Kym

Wow, I have not yet encountered this opportunity. But now I feel very capable and well informed. Thanks so much!

I'd charge by the hour too.  Would also consider buying some of the stuff yourself to beef up your inventory.

I always buy some of the things my self.  As long as the seller agrees with my pricing and doesn't feel that I'm taking advantage of them.

The last sale I pick up at least 12 really nice pieces of art, for staging, and I took it off of my total bill.

Works out real well.

When I use them in a staging job I'll point out the items.

Next week I'm doing another sale.  We start clearing and pricing tomorrow.  I'll show how I advertise when it's ready
