Growing and Restless... Again!

Once again I've decided that I've outgrown the faith of the church I've been attending. I've explored denomination after denomination moving on most often due to church doctrines playing down the truth of what I consider the unchanging and inerrant word of God. Man, if you think the truth is a moving target then in actuality you don't believe in anything.

And then there are the pastors. Two churches ago I was very content and loved every aspect of the church I was attending. The largest giver to the church cast his wife aside for a slut and the pastor defended him so as not to lose the biggest giver of the church. The church before that it was the pastor who was having an affair. In the church I am in the process of leaving the pastor runs every little aspect of it and feels he should be called Dr. Reverend (John Doe) Pastor Author Blogger. I'm not sticking around for him to add Most High God.

Today I (and only I) scouted out something new for our family. It's not totally new to me as I have heard several pastors from this movement and I hold them in high regard. If you have heard of Pastor Greg Laurie you would know I am speaking of The Calvary Chapel Movement founded by Chuck Smith. I enjoyed my visit and will visit again soon after I read up on it a bit.

I encourage others to question if their faith and the leaders of that faith are solid on Biblical values. Are you growing because of your church or are you just there because it's the church you grew up in and your parents and grandparents grew up there? If eternal life with God is important to you don't you think you should know his book inside and out?

I am not writing this to attack any faith or belief. If you are Muslim, Hindu, Druid or what ever... does your faith match up to it's doctrine? I encourage everyone to have the strongest faith possible in whomever you worship.

Bob "RealMan" Timm  It's a touchy subject and perhaps should be members only. In my opinion, as long as you believe, you go to the house that fulfills you the most as long as it is righteous without prejudice and hate

I get it if the offence was out in the open in a post or a comment. This does NOT appear to be the case. If Endre offended someone, let's just say YOU, in an email or phone call then he should not be expelled. If he did it openly in a post or comment then I don't understand why you have refused to point it out as many here have asked you to. If you could show us his PUBLIC indiscretion then maybe you would gain support for your decision.

Bob, you need to consider that you're not operating with all the information and that you will not be given the full information, and infraction material is removed as identified.  As we as ARMS have stated before, this is much more than a 1 or 2 people reporting situation.  It has zero to do with his personal politics.  It has everything to do with multiple infractions, multiple warnings given, and multiple warnings ignored.  Community Guidelines need to be followed.

Hannah Williams I took your advice but when I think about it's not the public that complains and gets people in trouble here. Just ask Endre.

Bob "RealMan" Timm , so it's not the person who commits the offenses that is the problem, but the people who report them?  If members adhere to the Community Guidelines, there won't be anything to report.

Bob- it's healthy to question things, people, whatever around you. We've been given the ability to think and use critical thinking and all to often we forget that. Good for you.

Hello Bob - not every nor each path is a direct one.  Finding the route that works for you whether it be short term or longer is understandable.

Thank you Michael Jacobs . If my route could be drawn onto paper it may remind me of the comic Family Circle when it shows Billy taking a walk around the neighborhood.

Good morning, Bob... I pretty much abandoned organized religion a long time ago. I have faith, but little faith in churches and have found I don't need to attend church to have faith.

I am in complete agreement with that Nina Hollander, Broker . My mother was raised a Jew so it was a big step for her to become a Christian. She put her all into the church but one pastor came along and destroyed her faith. I can't imagine losing my faith but I can imagine joining you in honoring God in other ways.

Bob "RealMan" Timm it's really sad how so often just one pastor or leader can have such a negative impact on people.

Hi Bob, how would you join her in honoring God in other ways?

Thanks,

Good morning Bob,

I have to agree with Kathy Streib 's comment "it's healthy to question things, people, whatever around you."

It is indeed healthy to question things around us Dorie Dillard Austin TX ESPECIALLY when it comes to faith. Too bad the followers of Jim Jones did not and followers of many other cult leaders who lead their congregations to death as well.

I hear about and see often people jumping from one church to another because of the people in the church, whether it be the pastor, the attendees, etc.  I feel that for me, it's not about the people in the church, it's only about my relationship with God and I can have that no matter what church I am in, regardless of the other people in the church with me, haha.  I feel most often that the word of God is difficult, so with regard to hearing it, I appreciate a priest that gives it, rather than trying to sugar coat it with the views of the world around it.
