business is pretty good right now in the rural Intermountain West

Call volume is up - closings are happening, people are buying houses at pretty decent prices with really good interest rates, investors are doing GREAT if they have cash.  Out here in rural America people are going on with life.  The good lenders are making loans and the fast buck funny money people are laying low for awhile.  I had to explain my feelings about the mortgage crisis and the reasons for it in Spanish (30% of my business is latino) the other day.  It was difficult to figure out how to say securitization of mortgages in Spanglish.  I bumbled through slaughtering the grammar as usual.  Even my short sale transaction shows a few signs of progress.  I prepared everyone for the way short sales work so no one has been demanding absolute answers by this and such date.   WE know and accept that we have NO CONTROL.

Thanks Tom. Just an interesting fact, Malheur County in Oregon where I live, is bigger than your neighbor state of Rhode Island!  But our population is only about 35000!  That's all!  Just 56 miles away though is Boise with all the city stuff.
