It comes once a year and we celebrate it in many different ways. The young kids in school give each other a valentine wanting one back badly and grown-ups make sure their love is proclaimed using flowers, candies, chocolates, stuffed animals, balloons, and intimate dinners. If nothing else, this day allows us another reason to celebrate
I LOVE YOU
I understand the commercial application of this and all the fun it brings and supports. That being said, the underlying reason should dominate and no the commercial one. It is the simple act of telling another I care for you, I love you or I appreciate you. I am glad I found you, have you & ? ? ?. C'mon everyone!
WORTHY NOTE: Do you recall seeing your parents kiss in public? When is the last time you kissed someone? Each other? When I wake up, I get to work, love i.e.
I APPRECIATE YOU ALWAYS
That declaration should make itself known all year long and without fail. Men and women go to work to support their house hold commitments and to maintain their quality of life. Is this not a love or a sacrifice too? When someone goes the extra mile, is not love in the air?
WORTHY NOTE: Are you a person who takes things for granted? Bring yourself current by participating not assuming or guessing. If you love me, SAY SO!
A KIND WORD AT WORK
Giving out a kindness in the form of a greeting or a kind word is this dynamic in action. It is almost a given that everyone you meet has a burden or two or three and an uplifting saying or greeting can be that living valentine to them right there and then. Love has no bounds, rules or conditions. It just is existing by sharing
POOR NEIGHBORHOODS SIT THIS ONE OUT
I am reminded that many schools in the poorer neighborhoods do not promote this holiday as the parents cannot spend money in this arena. Just keeping clothes, food and shelter by some of these parents is their gift to their kids whether the kids know it or not. My actions say I love you. One day, you will know
WORTHY NOTE: Children live for this & don't know that they do but when they get it, it changes their life. Don't take my word. Go find out for yourself
EVERYDAY IS LOVE AND APPRECIATION DAY
All year long I tell people how much I like them, enjoy them and how glad I am to be going through life with them. If Christmas, Valentines, Easter or Memorial Day etc. comes along while I am doing it, fine. I do not need a reason to love & be loved. I do it believing that life is a special occasion, and I celebrate it whenever I can.... however, I can, with all that I can, of course in the different ways.
WORTHY NOTE: I hugged an elderly friend today & kissed his cheek. He was a stranger to the gesture but quickly hungered it up & he thanked me profusely for the love gift. The air was permeated. That life bookmark is until we both die
TRUE STORY: I gave an elderly woman eye-contact plus a smile. She immediately came toward me, took my cheeks in her hands, said I reminded her of her son, who she cherishes. I immediately took her in my arms & kissed her AND she not only let me but wanted this precious gift & it was so. We both ate hearty that day
IN SEEKING CUPID DON'T BE STUPID
Alone or lonely, married or thinking divorce, starting out or starting over, we all dine, thrive & seek-out this overtly or covertly subject without being told. The return on our seeking gives fulfillment, contentment, satisfaction & results. To what degree? The above book devotes over 100 chapters with all subjects covered
LET THIS HOLIDAY HAVE ITS WAY WITH YOU & IT WILL! St Augustine contributed to this mightily when he said: Love first, then do as you will. Well? Cupid would/will be pleased & so will you
I love you
