Mid-Appalachian Quilt Retreat

What is the Mid-Appalachian Quilt Guild?

The Mid-Appalachian Quilt Guild is a members-only group that meets once a year in Gettysburg for a long weekend of fun, quilt workshops, programs, lottery block drawings, and sharing with other quilters. The annual membership fee is $30 which entitles you to be able to register for the weekend fun.

What are the costs?

In addition to the $30 membership fee, there are fees for room and board and for each class that you register for. It is a very reasonable cost for the weekend.

When is the meeting?

The retreat, in 2025, runs from June 5-8.

Where is it?

MAQ takes over the campus at Gettysburg College. You can stay on campus in the dorms, or you can stay in a local hotel or bed and breakfast. There are classes every day from Friday to Sunday, and after dinner (in the cafeteria) there are evening programs including a guest speaker. Classes are taught by nationally known quilt teachers. And, yours truly will be teaching 3 workshops at the retreat this year!! Stay tuned for that post!!

Registration opens on March 1, don't delay because the classes do fill up.

How fun, June! I know you love quilting. I gave up all kinds of needlework a very long time ago... these old eyes just can't handle it!

Good morning June. What a way to share tips, make new friends with a common interest, and learn something new. Have a blast whether you are attending a workshop or teaching your three.

I know that quilting is very popular so I would assume that this retreat will be very well attended!

Last year over 300 attendees and 34 teachers were here. And, fun was had by all.

Hello June - good for you! Your passion for quilting shows whenever you write about the subject.  The costs seem quite reasonable too.

Michael Jacobs last year I think it was $655 all in, including 3 meals a day, accommodation (private accommodation), membership, programs, and 3 classes. Partners are welcome but if a quilter's partner is coming to stay in the dorms they also have to take classes. We had a few couple quilters there.
