An interesting concept, starter homes, Brian. These days they are not quite what they were some years ago. I recently sold a home that was always considered a starter home in the past and the sale price was $500,000!

Good morning Brian. I agree with Nina Hollander, Broker. I bought my first home, a starter home back then, in 1972 and today it is still considered a starter home and it recently sold for seven times what I originally paid. Not bad for inflation but not good for a first time buyer. Enjoy your day.

I have to admit with the increase in home prices those original started homes have really crept up in value and are out of range for so many buyers.

Hello Brian - Interesting.  I hope this is true although I remain a bit skeptical in my local area.  

Starter homes (done right are a great) small footprint, updated roof/appliances, nothing too fancy. In the past years first time buyers have wanted to "skip straight to luxury". Hopefully we are getting back to basics.

Brian, With rising home prices, those once-affordable starter homes have significantly increased in value and are now beyond reach for many buyers!

Funny thing, I think this is the part of the market we are missing most. Small one or two bedroom homes in cute neighborhoods that fit first time (and last time) buyers. The problem (in many cases) is our government that puts impact fees on any home built. Makes it hard to do small homes.

Brian with they way home prices sky rocketed the last few years, it was difficult to find homes around here that were seen as a starter home.
