Tuesday Tip: Say Goodbye to Sweaty Walls. Keep the Fan On

Sham Reddy CRS - it is SO humid here in the south! Without the fan, it's like a sauna in the shower.

Brian England - It might not be as important for you in Arizona, but in Mississippi and our other Southern states, it's essential to turn the fan on. :)

Brian England - thank you for taking the time to explain that to me and other readers. This is similar to my most recent visit to a friends house. She had guests, like yours, that stayed for several months and from the looks of her bathroom wall, they didn't use the vent fan either. I'm glad you discovered the issue and by airing the space out, you avoided any remediation.

Kat Palmiotti - Our humidity feels like 80% year round 🤣That might not be scientific, but yikes it is humid here. Despite that, give me summer days instead of winter anytime.

Nina Hollander, Broker - I grew up in a home without vent fans installed. Code must have come along in the 60's and 70's. It is rare to see homes without them now, unless built prior to this time. As you say, teaching people to use them is now the issue.

I understand, Joan Cox, it's like your own sauna. I guess once in a while it's fine to work up a sweat in the shower, but for those who may have wallpaper or high humidity areas, it's not a good idea (especially where I live).

With Mississippi's high humidity and building codes, vent vans are a necessity here John Juarez. But an open window would work, too.
