Mardi Gras season is here, and it's time for the parades, the costumes, and the fun. As the celebrations kick into high gear, it's essential to keep safety top of mind, especially for families and those attending the parades with young children.
One of the biggest safety concerns this year during Mardi Gras is mylar balloons. While they add to the festivities, they can be hazardous along parade routes. They are a significant risk to power lines and can cause disruptions to the parade. If you’re bringing balloons to the parade, make sure to keep them secure, and always keep them away from power lines or streetlights.
Child safety is another priority. The crowded parade routes can be overwhelming, so it’s a good idea to have a plan in place if you’re attending with children. Make sure they know where to go if they get separated, and consider dressing them in bright, easy-to-spot colors. Write your phone number with a marker on their arm so that the Police can contact you if you get lost. Also, remember to keep an eye on them at all times. Parades are a fun way to connect with the community, but they can be a bit chaotic, so staying vigilant is key.

And if you’re ready to make a move, I’m here to help guide you through every step of the process!
