Loving What I Do: The Reasons I'm Passionate About Real Estate

By
Real Estate Agent with Front Gate Real Estate Broker 11085

It's the last day of February, and I'm finally sitting down to write my "love" post for the challenge - "Why We Love What We Do".  It's been a busy month to be sure; even more so since I co-hosted the February challenge with Debe Maxwell, CRS and have been busy reading everyone's incredible submissions!

Writing my own post after reading the talented and creative entries from everyone else means trying extra hard to be original. But I'll push through and get this entry done by midnight!Pat donating plants

I love my "job" for all the reasons most Realtors do—and surprisingly, looking at pretty houses doesn’t even make the Top 10 (even though that’s what most people think we do). If I’m being honest, the freedom and flexibility to set my own hours and choose how many clients I take on is at the top of my list. I’ve never been a morning person, and punching a clock has never been my style—but I’ll work as late as it takes to get the job done.

I love helping clients find the perfect home within their budget or guiding them through the downsizing process when the time is right. Whether you need to relocate or sell quickly, it’s incredibly rewarding to help buyers and sellers achieve their goals. And along the way, what starts as a professional relationship often turns into a lifelong friendship—a truly special part of this journey.

Providing answers to my clients' questions and guiding them with confidence makes me their trusted real estate professional—and that’s an incredible feeling.

Real estate is an emotional roller coaster, filled with highs and lows. The thrill of winning a multiple-offer bid for a client is exhilarating and deeply rewarding. But that excitement is balanced by the challenges—unqualified leads, long nights  and weekends, and sales that may fall through at the last moment. Yet, through it all, the ability to help people navigate one of life’s biggest decisions makes it all worthwhile.

Do I love my job? You bet I do! After 37 years in the real estate business, I can't imagine doing anything else.

PS: This photo is from the local Assisted Living home. Another one of my passions is growing and donating plants to seniors throughout the year.

This is my entry to the February Challenge: Why We Love What We Do

You have been an amazing partner in this month's love challenge, Pat! I adore your cause - I have a special place in my heart for seniors too (but, of course)!! Love that you donate plants to the local senior center.

I had to laugh at your line about how what we do is SO misinterpreted - I'll never forget the client who said to me, "I want to show luxury homes in stilettos too!" I jokingly said, "Oh, and you know, that's ALL I do!!" We laughed but, every single time I don a pair of heels, I think of that comment!

We do it to ourselves though - we do everything humanly possible to make our clients' transactions SO very seamless for them. Yep, that's what makes them think we just "show luxury homes in stilettos!" HaHa!

Thanks again for a fun month together. I also totally enjoyed the entries this month - we had some great ones, for sure - yours included! 😘

Pat, what a great post, and there are so many reasons why we do what we do, the post would be too long if we went on and on!   There are definitely ups and downs, but the ups far outweigh the downs.   Nice that you volunteer for seniors!

Thank you all for your comments. It's easy to write about what we do when we love doing it. Planting and digging in the dirt is therapeutic for me and finding homes for new plants is another passion.

June Piper-Brandon - I remember when I first got licensed, my broker told me every transaction was different. I replied, why aren't they all the same? LOL Eventually, what goes around comes around, but sometimes it takes a VERY long time!

Laura Cerrano - my sole resides in my home. It isn't for everyone, but it is ME.

Debe Maxwell, CRS- It was an honor and pleasure co-hosting with you, especially the month of February. The day I wear stilettos to work would be the day I had to walk in new construction MUD! So, no heels for me. That reminds me, one day I did get stuck in the mud with a pair of shoes. That was fun, said no-one ever!

Sweet Patricia Feager thank you for your comments. Through thick and thin, I have remained active. Some years were lean, and occasionally I picked up a part time job to muddle through, but real estate is what I eat and breathe, completely my passion.

Nina Hollander, Broker - there is always business for those who work at it. I laugh and tell my co-workers I am "second shift"!
