PURR-FECTLY RESCUED: HOW YOU CAN CHANGE A CAT'S LIFE

“Your house will always be blessed with love, laughter, and friendship if you have a cat.”

... Unknown

Rescued is my favorite breed of catInternational Cat Rescue Day was established in 2019 and is observed on March 2nd each year.

It is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of rescuing, fostering, and adopting stray, abandoned, and mistreated cats. International Cat Rescue day also highlights the efforts of animal shelters, rescue organizations, and volunteers who work tirelessly to provide care and find loving homes for cats in need.

It's often been said that you can't buy love, but you can rescue it. As such, International Cat Rescue Day also celebrates the joy of adopting a rescued cat. As the mom of many a rescued cat, I can attest to the joy of adopting. PLEASE ADOPT, DON'T SHOP!

“There are few things in life more heartwarming than to be welcomed by a cat.”

... Tay Hohoff

HOW YOU CAN OBSERVE INTERNATIONAL CAT RESCUE DAY

  • Adopt a cat from your local shelter or rescue organization.
  • Foster a cat to provide temporary care.
  • Donate food, supplies, or money to cat rescue groups.
  • Volunteer at your local animal shelter.
  • Join a search team for lost cats.
  • Help spread awareness about cat adoption on your social media.

Did you know that Approximately 3.4 million cats enter U.S. shelters each year, with roughly 2 million adopted out yearly. That still leaves some 1.4 million cats hoping for their fur-ever home.

WHERE TO ADOPT A SHELTER CAT IN CHARLOTTE

Thanks for sharing Nina. I never had any pets in our house so I can't relate to it.

Sham Reddy CRS good morning, Sham... I know there are lots of reasons why many people can't have a cat or dog in their home. But there are other ways to support the cause. Wishing you a terrific Sunday.

Good morning Nina. I have a friend who somehow accumulates strays. As one passes or leaves another seems to take its place. He is a true cat food consumer in quantity. When we visit it is sometimes terrible as both my wife and I are allergic. As of this writing all of the cats are outdoor cats so the only time we have to be concerned is when we area at the pool or on the patin. Enjoy your day.

Wayne Martin good morning, Wayne... I am aware of the allergies you and your wife have when it comes to cats. It makes me sad. I have a sorority sister who was also very allergic and she had allergy shots weekly for years so she could rescue cats.

Hello Nina - while I have encountered a finicky feline over the years, that Tay Hohoff quote says much in its few words.  Sometimes it just times.  Not yours, the cats.

Michael Jacobs good morning, Michael... I would say I've been fortunate that just about every cat I've ever had would run to the door to greet me when I came home.

Hi Nina- both of the cats we had were adopted ...one was from our apartment complex, and the other Larry found at one of his spec homes. It pains me to see stray cats around. We have two on the street but our neighbor feeds them.
