Many of us are familiar with the old saying when we hear a bell ring, an angel has received his or her wings. Yet, I was unfamiliar with this quote by Edmund Spenser:
"Thankfulness is the tune of the angels."
When we think of being thankful, we may not connect that thankfulness to angels. Yet why not? If we believe angels exist in a heavenly body, then our thankful actions would be seen by angels.
Each day I awaken in these later years, I am thankful that I am as it has been said “above the ground.” I am truly filled with thanks which is thankfulness to still have my husband beside my side, our home, our family, our friends, our pets, my clients many who have turned into friends and our life here in NW AZ.
My sense is thankfulness is much like a cup that requires being refilled each day so the tune is still heard by the angels. As each day wears on, our thankfulness is diminished as other pressing issues take place and our mind is focused on resolving this or that issue especially if we are still working.
So as we enter another week, let us keep our cups of thankfulness filled so the angels can continue to hear that tune.
