At The Entrance of the Property the Sign Said Don't Feed the Wildlife

At any visit I have made to a zoo, there have always been signs announcing that the animals are there to be seen and not fed.

Upon entering most of the resort properties are signs requesting that the animals not be fed. Of course, with some of them it would be a matter of what they would eat.

Of course, some of the wildlife one would see are fairly obvious like the deer grazing in the back yard of this residence.

A hawk in a tree would be common and while they appear to be just ignoring the scenery, they are looking for a slight movement that indicates a meal.

Once they see the movement, they take off and their skills become obvious.

When going near a water area, the alert signs get raised as one cannot be too cautions.

Don't want anything to do with the wildlife just sitting on this batch of debris.

I have another ball in my bag next.

That is not a log on the banks of that water area so next ball out of the bag.

And, if you see something like the character above on the practice range, it would still be wise to go to another area and keep your eyes on it.

And hope that he's not in your 4-some.

Ed this is an issue we do not really have up here.  The only thing I watch out for when I hit a ball in the tall grass or woods is poison ivy.

LOL Ed this is funny!  I've never seen an alligator while out golfing but then again I live in the desert.  All we see are ducks, geese etc.

Good afternoon Ed,

I have to admit I've never played golf and seen an alligator! But in FL I guess that is the norm!

Hi Ed:

Sounds like paying attention to what wildlife is around is pretty important when golfing in Florida...some are clearly more hazardous than others.

Ed, Best to heed the warnings in Florida, especially near water, since that sign could mean an alligator may be eyeing part of you for their next meal out on that golf course.

Ed Silva, 203-206-0754  When visiting Florida, swimming, reading, and lounging by the pool, I would look at the water and imagine eyes staring at me .. It was gated, and I did not think the gator could get in. It was not until later that I was told it most likely was an Alligator

Hannah Williams   I can recall being in a resort with a pond and seeing a gator on the bank taking in the sun.  It is a way of life down here

Hi Ed- one of the first things we learned when we moved to FL was that if there's water you can assume there's a gator there. Have you seen one walking on land?  That's scary.

Mar 05, 2025 07:30 PM
Ed Silva, 203-206-0754

Kathy Streib   They have a purposeful strut. When you see them, you don't worry about being the fastest, just faster than the slowest person.

Good morning, Ed... I've stayed at golf resorts in Florida that "hosted" their share of alligators... can't say I loved it.

I am sure that the wildlife does not enjoy getting hit with an errant tee shot, but I have seen it happen, haha.
