A wife can have a big impact on your life. I met Annie during the Covid Pandemic. I was recently divorced, living on my own and quite content being alone. However, I was not avoiding a new relationship, in fact I had thought I was moving to Germany, but with Brexit and then Covid things got complicated. That was when I was introduced to Annie. We were introduced by someone a client introduced me to who was interested in walking as she had had a fall and had some need to walk for her balance issues. She kept mentioning these two women and that she would connect me with them. As time went on, I got impatient and invited her and Annie to dinner on June 13 2019, to have dinner outside. I would cook they just had to come. The friend got lost although she lived two minutes from my house so they were late, soon after arriving the friend mentioned she was not feeling well and I took her home, leaving Annie sitting on my patio with a bottle of wine. I assured her although it took them half an hour to find my house this journey would take no more than five minutes.
We never stopped talking all evening. When I met Annie she accepted me just as I was. I think we both knew straight away that this person opposite us was very interesting. She had many of the the same interests as me, travel, a love for animals, food, wine and beer. We chatted for a long time that first evening, just enjoying each others company and discovering more about each other. I suggested we meet the next day as I knew she had a dog and I warned her that if her dog was very rambunctious we could be friends but nothing more. So we met at a local nature preserve to walk, and then visit a local craft brewery that had outdoor tables where you could sit well separated from others.
It did not take long for Jackie and I to bond, she is the most laid back dog with a heart of gold and very placid. I loved her. She also approved of me I have later been told. A week later it was Annie's birthday and I accepted the challenge to find the right birthday gift which I managed, buying a hat, some English beers and some other small gifts.
We just loved being together and it became obvious, although i was in no hurry to remarry, I did not want to lose this woman. I felt supported, loved, respected and encouraged to be myself again.
So November 2022 we got married surrounded by friends and family to wish us well with Jackie as our ring bearer.
She had her own special outfit and everybody oohed and ahhed when she came down the aisle before the bride.
I cannot thank Annie enough, I am so grateful that we met, she has helped me find my way back to being myself after many years of suppressing who I was and being lonely in a relationship.
