After more than 24+ years in the Real Estate business and nearly 4000 Facebook friends", I hoped I would never be writing a blog like this......but here I am, heartbroken and hoping someone out there might have some advice or a contact that I haven't tried.
Recently, my Facebook account was hacked. And not just my personal page, but my business pages as well that were linked to my personal account. These pages took years for me to build, nuture, and grow with past clients, sphere of influences, friends and family. Lots of memories too!
Whoever got into my account began posting inappropriate content, and I knew something was wrong almost immediately. I wen through all the correct channels, I visited facebook.com/hacked, I submitted all the ID they requested and I followed every single step I could find in the Facebook Help Center. Unfortunately, I keep hitting a wall. My appeals have been denied, and I'm still locked out of my own account.
The impact of this goes beyond just an inconvenience. My Facebook page was a hub for connecting with my real estate sphere, sharing listings, celebrating closings, posting marketing updates, posting videos and keeping in touch with my past clients and friends. It's a huge part of how I've stayed in front of my network for decades.
So now I turn to you - my Active Rain, Linkedin, and other Social Media Platforms Community...... has this happened to you or someone you know? Do you know any tips or other steps to get my Facebook account back?
I know I am not the first this has happened to and sadly I won't be the last. But if we can share knowledge and help each other protect our businesses and reputations, maybe we can take some power back from the hackers who think they can just take over our lives with a few clicks.
Thanks in advance for reaching and for any advice or suggestions you might have.
Stay safe out there!
