I took a much-needed Sabbatical the last few months, hanging out with my kids and grandkids. For the most part, I haven't made any posts because I was and am having way too much fun with them. and wasn't really concerned or worried about business. However, I actually had the best Dec, Jan, and Feb in 32 years of doing real estate full-time. I guess my referral branding and consistent advertising enabled me to accomplish those very lucrative 3 months. I guess luck is equal to timing, and mine was perfectly spot on.
Had tons of fun with the kids while earning what I thought would have been a slower winter period, but never imagined it would have been this good. So I benefited on the family end as well as in my bank account. Double whammy.
Taking time off for me was a fantastic way to chill and recharge my battery. It's not as if I didn't work, but focused on those things that were most important, the family as well as balancing the work time by being a one-minute manager (great book by Kenneth H. Blanchard. I read his book many years ago and slowly but surely implemented his concepts. For me it's still a work in progress; especially when creating that stability between the career, family and friends.
The money can attempt to pull you away from what is sometimes much more important, relationships and having those crucial and critical connections. When all is said and done, there will be no U-Haul behind your hearse and we will take nothing with us but our Soul and Memories. So I have been laser focused on building and inventorying and increasing my memories bank account and not really concerning as much about and for my financial bank account because, really, how much does one really need to have an enjoyable existence.
Here is a little riddle that I concocted during my last year in college. I am always conveying this to as many people as I can just to see how many figure it out. So far in 55 years there have been only 3 individuals who have guessed it correctly. Most recently it was a gentleman from India who I do business with and the one before that was a 25 year old multi-millionaire who I do some serious business with today.
If you had all the money that you ever needed and all the time to spend it, what one word=money + time. Understanding that there are those who have tremendous wealth, earn a huge amount of money, but have NO TIME. Then there are those who have a lot of time and NO MONEY or are dead broke at 65 reliant on someone else's (children's) income. This one word is something that I approximate that 95% of the world's population will never experience, not because of discrimination or outside issues, but mainly because of themselves and not having the wherewithal, the concerted effort, disciplined actions and sacrifice of the one thing that you cannot gain back, re-invent or grow, one's valuable time in order to gain the knowledge to ascertain how to attain that one word.
Everyone will have 3 guesses. Send them to me and by next week, I will provide you the answer. My professor at Buffalo University, had asked me how I came up with this concept. I said one night I had an epiphany and got out of bed and began writing and formulating what had popped into my mind.
