Windows are the eyes of your home, and how you dress them says a lot about your style. From airy sheers to bold blackout blinds, choosing the right window treatment can dramatically improve both the functionality and aesthetics of your space. Curtains and blinds not only provide privacy and light control but also serve as a design element that ties your room together.

Curtains: Elegance in Motion
Curtains bring a soft, luxurious touch to any room. Whether you prefer floor-length velvet drapes for a classic feel or linen panels for a breezy vibe, they can add texture, color, and warmth. Layering sheer curtains with heavier fabrics offers flexibility—you can let in natural light during the day and block it out at night. Don’t overlook hardware either: sleek rods or vintage hooks can add that perfect finishing detail.

Blinds: Sleek and Functional
Blinds are perfect for homeowners looking for a clean, modern look. Available in wood, faux wood, aluminum, or fabric, they come in many styles like Venetian, vertical, or roller. Blinds are great for precise light control, and with today's motorized options, you can adjust them with the push of a button.

Mixing It Up
For a designer touch, try combining curtains and blinds. This layered approach is not only visually appealing but also increases energy efficiency by adding insulation to your windows.

I wasn't fond of either option- but given I was on the ground floor and street facing in Manhattan, I needed a solution. Instead, I opted for a custom Shoji screen. It allows natural light in, while providing privacy- and it adds unique style.  It's not a solution for everyone- but it worked well for me.

Hello Tamra - windows allow residents to see many opportunities for decorating as well as privacy.  Creativity and protection obviously come into play.
