Back on February 21st I shared about the Scottish Country Dancers of The Villages and had the opportunity last night to see them in action. The Rio-One Social Club President had request I provide music for our meeting night which fell on Saint Patrick’s Day. I explained I had just shared an article about the Scottish Dancers and suggested he contact them; they were open and came to our event. Great evening with music, dancing and even getting people up to learn a few of the dances. About the dances:
Scottish Country Dancing is a cross between square/contra dancing and ballet. Typically danced in lines, with sets of 4 couples. The uplifting, rhythmic Celtic music gives it a uniquely “Scottish” flair. These are the dances that Scottish people dance at balls and ceilidhs. Fun, sociable, enjoyable, and ever evolving: Scottish County Dancing is a fusion of traditional and modern dances.
Yes I got up and tried one of the dances and didn’t do well! It was great experiencing one of my articles go from writings, sharing, seeing and dancing!
