It's The First Day of Spring 2025

According to the calendar, it is the spring equinox, which means that the day and night would be of the same length.

It is also considered by most to be the first day of spring.

Of course, as we are still in March, especially in the Northeast noting can be taken for granted and for the overnight, we are projected to get another blast of winter.

At the very least, the thought makes many feel better, and that part of the smile on the oil man will begin to fade, as will the plow man, but he has already made his vacation plans, and most likely not even send a thank you note to his customers.

What I do like is that each day we will see the days get slightly longer and of course we will get warmer as well.

Hopefully whatever weather comes in over the next couple of weeks will not be traumatic and the buds will show themselves without the scarves.

Ed, this is a charming and relatable post about the first day of spring. I appreciate the realistic perspective, acknowledging the unpredictable nature of March weather in the Northeast. The mention of the oil man and plow man adds a touch of humor. I like the focus on the positive aspects of spring, like longer days and warmer weather. Your hope for a gentle transition and the blossoming of buds without "scarves" is a nice sentiment. Your contact information is clearly displayed, and the personal touch of including your cell number for calls or texts is effective. Overall, it's a warm and engaging piece.

Spring is here...well for us, almost. With real temps feeling like the 30s today, it doesn’t quite feel like it yet. But I’m looking forward to the spring buds, warmer days, and all the signs of the new season ahead

Good afternoon Ed,

I can see why you are anticipating spring and ready for it but still have some wintery weather to contend with! We woke up to 45 degrees this morning but it is getting up to 75 degrees and starting tomorrow it will begin the day in the low 50's and climb to the 80's. Hoping it will stay that way as the sky is so blue and the bushes and plants are blooming!

Ed Silva, 203-206-0754  Spring is here. We may get a few cold blasts, but a Blue Jay was sitting on my railing today.

Spring has arrived in the Olympic Peninsula, but other areas of Washington State may still be waiting for its arrival. Daffodils are in full bloom, with Tulips set to bloom next in April. Get ready to embrace the beauty of the season!

Happy Spring, Ed!  Our weather was similar to Dorie Dillard Austin TX's. We had to wear jackets on our walk today and it didn't hit 70 until this afternoon. Prior to that we had 80 degree weather.

Ed, the calendar SAYS Spring, but like you, March is a roller coaster month, and sure we are not done with snow.

Hello Ed - the seasonal shift can often be met with suspicion of sorts.  Afterall weather is involved so anything happening remains a possibility.

The same here! It might officially be Spring, but the weather may take a few turns before it's REALLY Spring!

Hi Ed:

Oh, I remember those early Spring days when living in Boston when winter didn't seem to want to give up.

Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 - those are great images! I also love your playful writing style, such as "part of the smile on the oil man will begin to fade, as will the plow man, but he has already made his vacation plans."

And I think to myself, it won't be long before the weather in FL is too hot and the coast will be lined with SUV's, Autos, and Campers to move further up the New England coast to find cooler weather, like in places where you live!
