BEATING YOURSELF UP? (beat less, learn more)

Long time ago, I learned to use a feather instead of a stick when it came to beating myself up over something. Pretty soon I threw away the feather. Why? Now, I am open to reason and change without the persuaders LOL.  When you are wrong, in error or prisoner of your ignorance that causes a mistake well, say so. It comes across better than anything else you can try.

WORTHY NOTE: The Three Stooges: "I'm a victim of circumstances" doesn't work

LAUGH and then LAUGH AGAIN

If you fail at something, welcome to the learning curve. Assess what tripped you up, rise, and then dust yourself off. Choose a direction and instruct your feet to take a step that way. Have a chuckle or two and begin again when you are already. Have still another laugh if you can, this time, at yourself

SOMETIMES THEY STAND IN LINE

You have to take a beating every once in a while, whether you like it or not as the world turns. The world, your enemies, well-meaning people and business at large will beat you up plenty just for playing by living. No need to blame any of them. In fact, be good to yourself and realize that no one else knew what they were doing either at some point. Whom are they kidding? Laugh it off

I USED TO PRACTICE THAT

If you meet someone who is practicing innocence, naivete or ignorance, try to relate and even enjoy it while entertaining how to help them. That was you many times ago (remember?) and think to yourself, how would you have liked to have been approached or helped in that innocent state. Proceed after that.

I REMEMBER WHEN...

I remember buying a gift for someone that had to be assembled. I wanted it to be special and took my time making sure everything fit well. Then to present the gift and bath and glow in that person's happiness. However, I looked down and saw so many left over pieces and when I consulted the instructions (what's that?), I found that I put it together wrong.  Four hours to assemble a one-hour item? LOL

AND THE TIME...

I just got a new coveted job (I needed badly) and the boss was even hesitant to hire me. I begged for the chance. I was working in an unfamiliar area. He says go to 538 Broadway and drop this off. Piece of cake.  The only Broadway I knew of was downtown 10 miles away and 30 minutes from there. Eager to please I took off. one hour later, he wondered where I was as the errand should have taken 10 minutes tops. He sits me down & says: sorry, this is not working out. I asked for one more chance and got it as he just shook his head wondering about letting me go. I spent 12 years there

WORTHY NOTE: Insert your own faux pas, nonsense & LOL episodes all similar to mine guaranteed. Then, consider everyone on the whole planet, past & present too

TO SUM IT UP

I learned (still at it) from it all. The thousands of stories of growing up and learning, maturing while exploring and adjusting for errors and nonsense that you just run into. At times it was gut wrenching, tore me down, hilarious, mysterious and embarrassing. But now, I am quick to smile, grin, laugh and repeat that over and over enjoying my own little escapades. No need to stress, but to modify the experiences to go a little better perhaps smoother?

KEEP YOUR STICK & YOUR FEATHER

Beating yourself up makes no sense...Discovering that point, does...

I try not to beat myself up because there are always others standing in line to do the job for me - particularly those who are coming from their own view point.  I learned a long time ago that the only person I can or should answer to is me - I am the one who knows the motivations behind my actions and i do try to do my best so generally my conscience is clear - and when I mess up I try to own it and learn from it.  Have a great week and thanks for sharing.
