Self-Buttering Toast
Hyper ego-driven salespeople are the first to compliment themselves in every aspect of their lives, from their perfect personal/professional environments to touting the area in which they live. They tend to leave out important details that might taint the overview and send potential buyers packing.

Being realistic by referring to resources like state, county and city crime statistics to give a wide view of understanding, is highly recommended. We all know that toast cannot butter itself but these ego-maniacs continue to liberally slather on overexaggerated greasy notions to attract business.

An ego should never override abilities
and like Diane Black once said, "Big egos
are big shields for lots of empty space."

Some charmers think they can sell a concocted story of, "The highway is only busy during rush hour." though it's 9:30 a.m. while the steady hum of traffic is near deafening. Boarded-up storefronts on Main Street "Hold future, commercial success!" Just how long it will take is the real mystery.

I don't care what you think unless
it is about me -- Kurt Cobain

People are unable to see what is being sold but it's never too late to change. Habitual honesty, remaining humble and using integrity in advertising gets the right kind of attention so there's no need to constantly look over the shoulder to ensure you're outpacing the lies that are due to catch up.
Truth be told, toast cannot butter itself and if consistently patting yourself on the back in front of everyone, it can cause them to think that you're a greasy heel and a little slippery to be around.
Just saying.
