Friday Flags:  A Double Flag of Support in Prospect CT

As I made reference to the spring winds in last week's Friday Flags post, it was a good time to take photos.

Located just off the town center, is the town pond and recreation area that also has a proud flagpole, and like its neighbor is somewhat sheltered.

McGrath pond is a manmade water pond, and it is also the pond that gets stocked with fish for the derby in the spring and one can see people fishing there all year trying to catch a few that managed to survive the onslaught of anglers.

And as it is NCAA time of year, the second banner is for the UConn basketball teams.  Unfortunately, the men's team was defeated in their second-round game, and had they won, they had a good chance of reaching the Final 4.

The women were a much stronger team for their bracket and got through the first weekend with ease.

They got much stronger as a team as the month of February went on, and for the first time in 4 years enter the tournament with complete roster of players.

Only time and luck will determine how far any team goes at this time of year. The first weekend saw one of the best players in the country, JuJu Watkins, got lost with an ACL injury and that will cause issues for USC. Something UConn knows all too well.

Good morning Ed. As my son went to the University of Florida this year I a paying more attention to the NCAA results. UF sure makes it interesting with their sporadic play. Nice flag as always. May the breezes continue to blow your way so you can feature more spots. Enjoy your day.

From looking at your featured photo, I wasn't sure what the second flag was until I saw the next photo and it showed it more closely.  UCONN has certainly had a lot of success in basketball, both men and women.

Ed the two flags make for a great view, and the wind continues to cooperate with you.

Ed, was wondering what that second flag was for, but understand for UCONN.  Didn't they win last year?

Hi Ed:

I always enjoy hearing the story behind the flag photos that you share. The wind certainly cooperated for your photos. Thanks for the NCAA update - not something I follow closely.
