Release your creative side

Children are so creative and it seems like creativity diminishes as people get older.

Why?  I think adults get caught up in the busyness of life.  Some people are afraid to release their creative side and consequently never try anything new.

They fill their heads with thoughts like:  "I am not creative"......"I am not an artist so I can't draw"......"I am not a good writer so I can't blog"

I've noticed when my creativity is stifled I have been working too much and haven't made time for a mental break.

When we take the time to stop our busy thoughts and daily activities, creativity kicks in.

I love fishing because I don't have to think about anything!  Then, all of a sudden, a creative idea will pop into my head.  In fact, I always get ideas when I am doing something that is not work related.

There is always so much to do but taking a break and stepping back gives us the opportunity to see things with a different perspective and releases our creative side

Next time you feel like you are out of ideas, take a bike ride or go hiking instead of going back to your work load.  You just may get a great idea for your next blog post or your real estate business!

Everyone is capable of being creative.  You may have to do a little digging to uncover it, but it is definitely there.

Funny, I've thought about this a lot lately.  When you here the 1 hit wonder on the radio, I always wonder why only 1 hit?  And such a great one too!  My Shorona . . . and then nothing.

I think we get trained to expect less as we grow older and DO less, creatively.  Kids don't know they can't, so they try.  We have learned our boudaries and stay within them where it's comfortable.  It's safer this way, but boring.

It's funny you brought this up.  We have a 5 yr. old and her imagination has really kicked in, and we love watching it.  I remember reading some years ago how our creativity gets stifled as we grow up, how people tend to put others down when they come up with an idea they don't like, and this makes the kids go into a bit of a shell.  It was an interesting article and I haven't done it justice with this comment, but it was a well written point that I fully agreed with.  We should always encourage our youth when their brains are hard at work, unless of course it is a danger to society...LoL!

Patricia, I think as we get older we do stifle our creativity but I also think we can unstifle it.  I've noticed a creative side lately that I didn't realize I had.
