Hello Debra - I was aware of past volcano activity in Alaska but didn't know (or didn't know or immediately recall) of this news.  Being and staying aware is good.  And proper preparation remains an excellent plan for each of us.

Hello Michael Jacobs  We have a lot of active volcanoes in Alaska. They call this are the Ring of Fire for the Volacanoes that surround us. Add that to the earthquakes and it is always smart to be prepared! Thank you

Good morning, Debra... had not heard of a potential volcanic eruption until I read your post. You've provided excellent advice for people to stay safe. Hopefully, there won't be any need to follow it.

Hello Nina Hollander, Broker I agree with you, hopefully we will not have a big blowup, but it is always good to plan ahead!  We are used to it We have a lot of volcanoes up here! Thank you!

I have seen a volcano erupt but I don't remember smoke coming from the top as in your featured photo, haha.

Hello Brian England  They steam a little here and there but don't always erupt. Lots of times if there is a big earthquake somewhere the volcanoes steam a little.... enough to remind us they are out there!

Hello Kat Palmiotti  Up here we need to be prepared at all times! Yes we are hoping Mt Spurr will calm down and snooze. Volcano ash is no fun!!

Debra, I hadn't heard about this possible eruption either, so be safe.  Are you close?

Apr 05, 2025 08:44 AM
Debra Leisek

Hello Joan Cox  Mt Spurr is closer to Anchorage than Homer. We have been ashed by Mt Spurr before. It will depend on the direction of the wind flow.  Hopefully it will just back to napping!!

Hello Debra, wow please be safe, I hope it does not blow it top.  Thanks for the interesting things in your blog today.

Hello Will Hamm If it does blow it will be more inconvenience than deadly. The ash is destructive and can cause some long-lasting problems if you don't take proper action. I am hopeful it will go back to sleep!!

Debra- I hope that should it erupt, everyone heeds your advice. I've prepared for hurricanes but a volcano is a bit different...not using HVAC systems, etc. Stay safe.

Hello Kathy Streib We will be okay just have to stay out of the darn ash!! And not let it into our homes and buildings. Thank you!

Debra Leisek - I did not hear about the news in Alaska. Lots of raised awareness about flooding, tornado warnings, cold weather, storms, etc., in the USA but they skip Alaska!

Your preparedness list is very educational and important. Living around the ring of fire always has risks. Be safe, my friend!

Apr 06, 2025 09:56 PM
Debra Leisek

They do skip us up here unless something really big happens! We are good with that and hopefully nothing really big happens!! We do stay prepared and we do take care of ourselves and our neighbors

Thank you Patricia Feager

Debra Leisek - I have started to hear more on the local medial channels about the potential volcano eruption. Your preparedness list is vital for survival!

As for the Feature Photo, it's like looking at another priceless Water Painting, such as the one you featured in the previous post to this one. You could sell your photographs to tourists! You are so good and taking photographs that sells Alaska as it should be - one of the most beautiful places on earth! Mother Nature is very good to Alaska! Pray no eruption and safety for all!

Debra Leisek

So far so good Patricia Feager  No big eruption! Mt Redoubt is starting to steam a bit too. Hopefully they will steam a little then go back to sleep!

Thank you for your encouragement to take more photos! People tell me I should do something to share them. Maybe Calendars?  Its pretty easy to take good photos up here! Except the pink moon was being difficult the other night! I thought about you..... its not a great picture but its the thought that counts

Hi  Debra Leisek   Thank you for the info on the volcano and the photos.  I know very little about them except what I read.  I do know of the ring of fire and wow...what an awesome display of power when one erupts!
