Many buyers feel strongly about the washer and dryer in the garage, others don’t matter. I know if you want to move them from the garage into the home depending on where you move them it can get pricey. If you have been following the villa remodel we moved them from the garage the length of the villa for $7,000. For us they are in the garage at least for now and I am fine with that. Before you jump on me I do the laundry, and both homes we owned in The Villages have been in the garage.
Benefits of being in the garage, for me is noise is right up there. Michelle likes the wool dryer balls which are about the size of a baseball, and depending on what I am drying they bang around. The spin cycle, hearing the drain of the washer is also noisy. Finally, the heat of the dryer, I would rather have it in the garage than anywhere else inside the house.
Some feel the convenience of having it close to the primary bath or closet is a good reason to be inside. I just checked the cloths hamper is 85 feet to the washer and dryer, helps me get my steps in! If we were home shopping (which no plans for that) I would not base washer and dryer location on whether I would buy a home or not, but that’s me.
