Motivational Monday…Is a Smile Ever Wasted?

Good morning Kathy -The story your shared in this post was so great! You never gave up and later on you found out that your smiles and good mornings were never wasted; he reciprocated when you least expected it.  Great quotes, thanks for sharing them. 

Good morning, Kathy... a smile is never wasted. Ever. I've always loved that quote by Victor Borge. One of my favorite quotes about smiles is by one of my favorite comedians, George Carlin: "everyone smiles in the same language." Ain't that the truth!

Good morning. A smile with a good morning costs absolutely nothing and yet the riches received often are incredible. Great post Kathy!

Hello Kathy - I am not the most smiley person.  Or the least for that matter either.  Life is a combination of gestures, thoughts, behaviors and many sorts of other things. 

I have it said it before, perhaps even earlier today while leaving a comment on another post - it's simply complicated.  And there are times when a smile, a relatively small act or something similar is reciprocated. Maybe even unexpectedly.   So, smiling or any such kindness isn't wasteful.  It isn't even waste management; it can become part of you.  

Good morning Kathy. A smile in never wasted but occasionally it takes time to get a return. Enjoy your day.

I totally agree with you on this, I always smile at people and often it triggers an automatic smile in response, especially with kids.

A smile is never wasted, even when it isn't returned. How wonderful that your project was successful!

I was sad when all the people at my post office retired and when we got new people -one of them didn't smile - I was determined to get him to smile - finally I cracked the code! 

I think a smile is the least expensive way to improve your day. Try it  :)

It takes less energy to smile that it does to hold a frown so it should be considered as life lengthening, and we would be providing a valuable service.

Hello Kathy and a smile is never wasted and it can change a person day when they receive one.

Kathy all the years of hiking the trails behind our house taught me a lot about people and how they react to a simple smile...and perhaps a Good Morning!  For some it is like an opening statement to a new friendships.....and that has happened a lot along those trails!  For others their heads are down and are consumed by music or whatever they're listening to.  Like the young man you mentioned, it's a good feeling when a 'shy' person finally opens up just a bit......it's a good start!

Kathy, a smile can make all the difference to someone.   Anyone I pass I share a smile, or a Good morning, afternoon, etc.

Having visited Germany five times now, I'm still not used to the lack of interaction. Not only do most of the people you pass by not smile or speak, they rarely make eye contact. 

I love your determination to make that man smile and how it paid off. Nicely done!

Some smiles are wasted, but I will keep giving them, haha.  There are too many fake people in the world, both those who give smiles and receive them, haha.
