1. Do you qualify for a 1031 exchange?

    The homes must be investment properties.

    The home you buy must be worth more than the one you sell.

A 1031 Exchange is a great way to defer taxes, but if someone wants to avoid paying capital gains taxes altogether, they should look into an Opportunity Zone Fund.
