Is A Staycation REALLY A Vacation?

I, for one, CAN make a stay-cation work. I love having a free schedule at home so I can tinker with things (tinkering is my passion). I also think camping pretty much is a stay-cation being our camper is pretty much our 2nd home.

This summer may prove to be more challenging then others as far as camping goes. I had booked a few dates at our favorite campsite for the summer BUT just this week it was announced that our site and a few others we visit are closed due to staffing issues. After posting this I will be looking for alternatives and if nothing is found we will certainly be doing more stay-cation then planned.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. I love staycations, Bob "RealMan" Timm for me it is staying local with little to no work or devices.  It is time to shut down and recharge my mind, body, and soul. 

Daycations are similar - spend the day at the coast and just chill.  One day away can feel like a week off for me.  

Whatever works - we just need time to take care of ourselves and recharge.

I fell the same way Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist . Getting away from the electronics can really help. Until last year there was no signal when we went camping but I assume those who want to bring about a "One World Order" feel they must track us.

Wow Bob, are these state place or U.S. parks that you go to do.  My cousin daughter works for USA park services in marketing and so far she still has her job but many park rangers are gone.

I believe they are State parks Will Hamm but they may be U.S. parks as they are on the grounds that were built for the Garrison Dam is built on.

Bob, I can definitely see how a staycation can be a real vacation, especially when it involves pursuing a passion like tinkering with things around the house! And your camper truly being a second home makes camping feel like a natural extension. It's a bummer about the campsite closures due to staffing issues, though. Hopefully, you'll find some great alternatives, but it sounds like you're well-prepared to embrace a staycation if needed. Enjoy your tinkering time!

Dolores and I enjoy our staycations. It is nice to have a comfortable home in a great location.

I hope you will find some alternative camping sites. Staff reductions have impacted many parks.

Yes I enjoy staycations Bob!  Sometimes we just float around in the pool listening to  beautiful music and watching nature flow......it's so relaxing and quiet.  No phones, no nada but nature!

Hi Bob... I can relax at home... but a staycation is not a vacation for me. I'd be thinking about all the things I could be doing around the house or for work... and if I didn't do them, I'd be feeling guilty.

Once again I say "Well said" Michael Jacobs . I have often thought as I left my office "now I am on vacation". Timmothy and I often take a break from work and walk around the downtown area when the weather is nice... we just restarte doing that lately.
