A Pink Piano

And April Showers From The Past

Combine As Thoughts-A-Plenty

Continue to Grow

Nearly a decade ago, I shared the above photo which I snapped while out and about in Pasadena after a bit of a drizzle. It's interesting what can be observed in the course of a day even one that might otherwise dampen one's outlook. Sometimes, these memories can even sprout a post that is not wordless.

Whether or not the weather cooperates, there is a certain magic that can occur. Inspiration can thrive. Time as well as place combine as do circumstances and situations.

As April nears its last days of 2025, I look forward to experiencing what May has in store. Even though capturing photos isn't on my walking agenda these days, opportunities to feel the rhythm of our surroundings can be sensed. There are likely some tunes yet to burst onto the scene. In and out of the rain.

The above image in this post is from canstockphoto.com, the feature photo as previously mentioned is from my collection.

That's quite the piano! My phone is always ready to take photos - and I do make a point of taking them on a regular basis!

Kat Palmiotti - being camera-ready has never worked for me.  In front of behind the "say, cheese" moment.  Good for you that you can capture and document life's many unique moments.

Funny story. In one of our cities (Palm Bay) I was driving about a year ago and I saw a bunch of furniture left out on a corner. Well...it would up the corner was right on the edge of Palm Bay and another city (West Melbourne). Someone had dumped it and NEITHER city would take responsibility. People in the area got so frustrated they actually set up a living room with carpet, couches, chairs and tables. It was right near a bus stop and every time I would drive by people would be sitting, reading or waiting for the bus. They finally shamed Palm Bay into picking up the junk...lol

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty - littering is an issue, that's for sure, and I admit that at first glance that thought crossed my mind.  But further "investigation" turned out the situation was temporary.

Michael, that would be a site to take a photo!   You don't see a pink piano very often.  I always snap photos with my phone while out and about, or even indoors.

Joan Cox - while I can admire photography, it's not something I have ever seriously pursued.  My occasional camera-outings have been filled with more than a few photo mistakes.

I think I remember you posting that piano, and a great way to re-introduce it:
May's Flowers are born of the April Showers, a lesson about life, one cannot exist without the other and hopefully there's the discovery of a few pink piano's along the way.

Hi Michael,
Your post reminds me of my cousin recently telling me they have a piano they were interested in selling. They can't sell it in Washington State because the keys are real ivory. Apparently, it is illegal to sell ivory in Washington State, so they are having it shipped to California.

Carol Williams seriously?  I've never heard of this before.....due to ivory keys. Perhaps they could donate the piano to a school or organization that needs one?

Carol Williams - many sorts of things can come into play when memories as well as other stuff become lost in the chaos of everyday life.  I have heard stories of difficulty disposing of pianos because of some weighty issues.  And, of course, specific elephantine concerns seem to qualify in the clumsiness of decision-making, right?

Michael, we passed a house that was bright yellow and purple, but by the time I thought 'photo', it was already in the rearview mirror!

Will Hamm - we had some predictions of shower activity this month.  Hoever, it turned out to be more of a fizzling out than any drizzle or downpour of any significance.

I grew up playing piano and as a young girl would have loved having a pink piano Michael!  Not sure my folks would have let me go that far .......but maybe!!  As for photos.....I actually enjoyed using my 'big' camera as I called it for years and would like to get it out again when I'm able to go walking etc.  There is always something interesting that catches my eye!

Anna "Banana" Kruchten - even though I was gifted my grandmother's classic Brownie camera when I was a child, I never was ever beyond being a clumsy photographer.  Cut off heads, out-of-focus pics and more mishaps were my "specialties".  And the cell phone hasn't made the relationship any better.  Good luck with your continuing recovery - you got the tude for a picture-perfect return. 🍌

Hi Michael Jacobs   Love the photo...and I most likely commented on it years ago as I love seeing pianos on the edge of a sidewalk or building or path or...

I can only play a couple of chords...but always like to plink...  might have to go out in the other room and plink on ours...haven't done that in a while...  Gotta Go!

That is quite the paint job Michael Jacobs . Hopefully it is a good quality paint as I saw a similar piano and paint job outside our visitors center in Minot. Although it was under an awning it deteriorated VERY quickly.

Hi Michael,

I am sure kids will have fun playing this piano. I don't remember this post from many years ago. It was curious for me to see the groups where you published it - some of them I did not know even existed, like the Ninety-ninth percentile, or Everything CA. Since we lived for a while in CA, I feel I should join some of them. Fun post to read.
