I am sure there are roses in Heaven but I doubt there are any thorns attached to them. It seems like most everything good on this Earth has it's thorns just like the rose does.
How about home ownership?
We often call our domain our little slice of Heaven. So what are the thorns? For many #1 is property taxes. A close second may be homeowners insurance and then of course there is maintenance and repair.
Property taxes are what I personally consider the most pernicious. My home has been paid for in full for more then a decade yet if I skip on the taxes I lose the home I paid for over 30 years. THAT is a thorn!
Homeowners insurance is optional if you own your home free and clear as I do but there is no way I would live without it. Homeowners insurance... sounds pretty simple doesn't it? The thing is that your homeowners insurance is a basic policy and does not cover many threats to your home. I have had to (for god reason) purchased: Flood insurance; Sump pump backup insurance; sewer backup insurance. I also have a policy to cover the water main coming into my home and the piping that carries natural gas within my house.
What about maintenance and repair?
All I can say here is that the possibilities are endless BUT maintenance and repair is pretty much optional to the point you and your spouse can tolerate paint peeling, flooring wearing out and the such. If you purchased a brand new home you should be good for about ten years on the common things that wear out.
A comment from a Christian.
I look forward to my heavenly home. No maintenance, no insurance no problems.
