The Most Underrated Towns in Maryland
I really enjoy World Atlas; they do a great job of compiling interesting lists for their readers, and it makes for great blog fodder.
The most recent article that caught my attention is a list of the most underrated towns in Maryland, which are:
Chestertown, Kent County - located on the eastern shore of Maryland is steeped in history, and with lots of entertainment venues.
Thurmont, Frederick County - on the way to Pennsylvania, is home to Catoctin Mountain Park and is adjacent to Cunningham Falls State Park.
North Beach, Calvert County - located on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay and home to Wetlands Overlook Park and a Friday evening farmer's market.
Crisfield, Somerset County - a remote town right on the border of Virginia. Crisfield is a small fishing village where visitors can enjoy boat excursions, and the town also features a great Arts and Entertainment District and the Tangier Sound Music Festival held in May.
Brunswick, Frederick County - located in central Maryland and has become a commuter town for people working in Washington, DC. Brunswick is home to the Smoketown Brewing Station, which is known for producing over 20 varieties of award-winning beers.
Grantsville, Garrett County - a tiny village of about 1000 residents is home to the Casselman River Bridge State Park, which is a great place for fly fishing and other outdoor activities.
Parkville, Baltimore County - located just north of Baltimore City, is a great community home to Double Rock Park and Cromwell Valley Park, and some great entertainment venues.
Laurel, spanning Anne Arundel, Prince George's, and Howard Counties - located within easy reach of Baltimore, Washington, DC, Columbia, and Ellicott City, and home to lots of great restaurants and entertainment venues.
