You Just Can Not Hide Certain Things.

It seems that every pet we have had in our home either shed or molted (feathers) except for my fish 🐠. Speaking of our finned friends I purchased another pair of guppies two weeks ago and the female gave us six babies and then she died. I looked up "is it common for guppies to die after giving birth" and the answer was yes. The article went on about the various reasons why and I printed it out in hopes of keeping the next mama alive.

The photo above is a very small portion of a relief sculpture Timmothy created a few years back in college (2021).

If you are selling your home you may not be able to hide that you own a pet (and by law you have to disclose that a pet lives/had lived in the home) but you can and should make it as less noticeable as possible. Here are a few tips to help.

Vacuum at least once a day.

Clean the yard or litter box every day.

Keep your pet clean as needed (who hasn't experienced the "wet dog" smell)?

I am sure there are little tips I missed so if you would like to added one in please do so in the comments below.

One thing NOT to do is to try to cover up smells with air fresheners. You may be fooling yourself but no one else is going to fall for it.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

Good morning, Bob... is that a North Dakota law that require disclosure of a pet in a home? We have nothing like that in the Carolinas disclosures... but it is a good idea to do so when it comes to showings. My tip is to make sure that house never smells of dog or cat in the first place and then you don't have to worry about pet smells when selling your home.

It was on our disclosure reports when I was active Nina Hollander, Broker and it did kill a few (very few) sales. Always due to cats and not dogs. As well as I know you Icould NOT imagine your home smelling of anything but fresh air. ☺️

Bob "RealMan" Timm not a disclosure item here. If buyers are concerned about pet allergies, their agents will call to determine status of pets in the house.

Good morning Bob. We had friends who had many cats and somehow were used to the odors given off. They bought some top of the line vacuum cleaner and had a cleaning woman come in during the day before we visited that evening and vacuum everything. We were allergic and they were cat enthusiasts. Still allergic. Enjoy your day.

It is amazing to me Wayne Martin how some people are oblivious to odors in general. I have a hyper sensitive nose and smell much more than my spouse does.

Dark colors do seem to show the dirt more prominently, so perhaps he did that on purpose, haha.

That could be Brian England . Kind of like we may set things in a certain way so we know if anyone else is messing with our stuff.

Oh yes, pet smells can be a deterrent - wet dog is not a pleasant scent.

That is for sure Kat Palmiotti and as much as Baby likes to be outside she is not quick to come in from the rain. Maybe she just likes to come in wet enough to be towel dried (lots of attention).

I remember getting a mini schnauzer about 20 years ago. I had no idea (at the time) they did not shed. That was such a big bonus...lol

Hello Bob, we have friends that can not be around cats so they would only come over in the Summer time when we could be outside.   No cats of dogs for 9 years now.
