Spring Brings Flowers and...

This is another one of those strips where I think I was the inspiration behind it. If there is a fly in our house I will not sit down until it's dead. I have my fly swatters at the ready.

I can't tell you why I have this obsession but the fact is I do have it.

Flying insects are not a big issue this time of year as mother nature still has not made up her mind if it's winter, spring, or summer. Thus it is most likely to be below freezing in the morning and by 3:00 PM it's in the mid 50's. If the sun is shining the bugs start moving. This morning I saw a beetle swimming in my dogs (Baby) water bowl. It ended up being a beatle. I rinsed it out and turned on the garbage disposal. Much to my surprise it made it out about a half hour later. This time I returned it to the great outdoors.

It was a good reminder to get out the bug spray and go around the foundation of the home to renew the barrier that stopped them from getting in last fall and winter.

The mere mention of the word "Barrier" reminds of a song by Planet P Project called Behind The Barrier. This LP has some terrific driving (traveling) music. The LP is a story like Tommy by the who.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

Good morning Bob. We have a pest service that provides an outdoor barrier and sweeps away cobwebs. So far so good here in Oswego. That said we do have a problem of wasps on our balcony in the evening and the fly swatter gets active at that time of day. Spray has not deterred them, so thinning the herd is the only other option. Call me the "wasp killer"! Enjoy your day.

We seem to have to deal with them every year as well Wayne Martin and never in the same spot (with the exception of our carport, that is annual). I found the trigger spraying type of "Home Defense" brand works better on them then "Wasp spray").

Hi Bob... I have a great fly catcher in my house... Mr. Marlow... if that cat sees a fly he doesn't give up until he catches it. :)

Oooh, I never thought of that Nina Hollander, Broker . Still not enough to sway me to be a cat owner yet BUT that's a very positive point.

Hello Bob, I am the same way about that one fly that gets in the house.  Hope you are mowing your yard soon.

I purchased a new electric (battery) mower this year Will Hamm and I have used it a couple of time just for spots, not the whole yard yet. I have had a corded electric mower for years and it's a real champ. At one time I had 4 gas power mowers but as they die off I am NOT replacing them.

Bob "RealMan" Timm no matter how hard I try to keep them out, those pesky flies keep on finding there way into the house.

Ain't that the truth George Souto 😊. It seems I'm always making some adjustment to our screen doors.

I expect to soon be using some bug spray for the spring arrival of ants.

We have been lucky to avoid any ant invasions in the home Roy Kelley but every year we do get a mound or two in the yard.

Hi Bob- my brother bought us a gun that shoots salt. I've had fun killing flies if they get in the house. I also use a natural DIY spray for mosquitos.

Kathy Streib I have been looking at those "Asalt" guns for a couple of years but concerned that they may leave a mess. Fill me in please.

Trying to get a fly out of the house will certainly drive us crazy more often than not, haha.

Brian England I will catch and release most bugs but flies have to die once they enter my house.
