🌸 BOOMING & BLOOMING 🌸

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Beam & Branch Realty TREC #547752

Spring is a great time to reflect on the various cycles of life. Spring brings forth new growth, renewal, and, of course, the beautiful blossoms on our plants. The April Challenge by Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543, presented us with a unique challenge to share how we are blooming. As a gardener, Spring is my favorite time of year.

There are many lessons that come from nature and gardening. To reap the beauty of the blossoms, there are a lot of preparations and work that must take place. These preparations can easily be utilized in our work lives and our personal lives.

🌸 PLANNING ~ A serious gardener begins planning their garden months before the planting season. Decisions about the seeds, placement, and soil preparation must be considered. When we take the time to plan, future growth and blossoms are certainly more attainable.

🌸  LABOR ~ While planning is imperative if it is not followed up by hard work, the planning will be for naught. A gardener will spend hours cleaning out planting areas, bringing in new soil, removing weeds, and then planting. After the hard work, the promise of new growth is the reward.

🌸 PERSEVERE ~ Along with the labor, a continued effort is needed. The plants will need constant and consistent care. Pruning, feeding, pest control, and adequate watering will be necessary. When we are persistent in our goals, we are presented with beautiful flowers to enjoy, scrumptious fruit and vegetables, and, the majesty of trees and shrubs to grace our homes.

🌸 REPETITION ~ A good gardener understands the importance of  being consistent with what works and what does not. And, of course, practice, trial and error, and being willing to try new things are sound advice for anyone.

How are you blooming in your life and business? Remeber that all good things take time, patience, and persistence. Here's to a booming blooming Spring! 🌸

Paula- an apt analogy to our businesses or almost anything else in life. Plan, add some elbow grease, stick to it, then repeat the process.

Yes, Kathy, repetition has worked well for me in my life for many areas.

I was talking to someone today about how you plant seeds in real estate and never know when or where or even if they will come up - so we have to keep farming and planting.

Dr. Paula McDonald

That is so true, Lise. We must keep on being intentional with our efforts.

Paula - I really enjoyed the analogy on how planting seeds can apply to business to other aspects of life. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Paula - diligence can work many sorts of wonders.  In and outside of the garden.

You are so correct, Michael. It just boils down to getting out there and putting in the work.

I almost killed two plants this week - plants I'd been growing for months. I put them in the greenhouse, and forgot to close the doors before I went to bed. It was cold overnight (my first worry) and I knew critters might have gotten in there. When I checked, it appeared the cold didn't kill them, but a turkey must have stuck his head in there and pulled off some of the buds and flowers. Evidently, he didn't like them because they were laying on the ground. Good thing there were still some left so I think it'll be fine.

So yes, we're always learning. In my case, the lesson is, DON"T FORGET TO CHECK THE DOORS!

Oh no, Kat. What a bummer. Don't let the turkey's get you down! 🤪

Good morning, Paula. As Kathy Streib said: "an apt analogy to our businesses or almost anything else in life. Plan, add some elbow grease, stick to it, then repeat the process."

In my own case, I never got the actual gardening bug. Just too much of a city girl, I think! And it's not that I don't totally appreciate beautiful gardens and the people who are responsible for them.

No worries, Nina. We all have our areas that bring us joy. I am sure you have many, many other talents.

Thank you for your entry in the challenge, I agree with Brian, the view looks awesome. A lot of good sense here for any endeavour, but easily applied to real estate.

My pleasure, Nick. You spurred me onto thinking about this topic.

Dr. Paula McDonald - I enjoy seeing photos of your home and garden. While we may finally meet in person soon in San Jose, I hope to take you up on your offer to visit you in Grandbury, Texas.

To your point, it takes planning 💜💛

Paula as I look out our living room windows I see so many blooming plants and colors and it makes me happy! And that brings in birdies, especially because we have a water fountain.  It took planning and a lot of  help from out landscapers to create our little heaven......but like everything in life - it's so worth the effort!

Jo Anna - and yes, seeing the fruits of your labor makes it worth the effort! Enjoy!
