On April 24, 2025, National Association of Realtors® (NAR) reported that nationwide existing home sales decreased 5.9% to annual rate of 4.02 million homes in March of 2025 from February of 2025, and declined 2.4% from 4.12 million homes from March of 2024.
There were 1.33 million homes supplies of available inventory in March of 2025, rose 8.1% from February of 2025, jumped 19.8% from 1.11 million homes in March of 2024.
There were 4.0 months available inventory in March of 2025 gained from to 3.5 months in February of 2025, and up from 3.2 months in March of 2024.
On average it took 36 days to sell a home in March of 2025, lower from 42 days in February of 2025, but higher from 33 days in March 2024.
First time buyers acquired 32.0% of homes in March of 2025, grew from 31.0% in February of 2025, but unchanged from 32.0% in March of 2024.
Investors purchased 15.0% of homes in March of 2025, dropped from 16.0% in February of 2025, but same as from 15.0% in March of 2024.
Cash buyers purchased 26.0% of all sales in March of 2025, down from 32.0% in February of 2025, and fell from 28.0% in March of 2024.
