All Leisure World residents and their guests are invited to Baltimore Musicales’ “Sundays with Fanny” on Sunday, April 27, at 3:30 pm. in The Inter-Faith Chapel.
Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel was an extraordinary pianist and prolific composer who was discouraged from pursuing a professional career in music because she was a woman. In 1831, she began hosting her own Sunday musicales — the Sonntagsmusiken — with an impressive guest list of composers, writers and performers.
The Musicales’ program explores works by Hensel and her musicale attendees, including Clara and Robert Schumann and Franz Liszt, as well as music by H. T.
Burleigh, Stephen Foster and other contemporaries in Europe and the U.S. Featured performers include Amanda Densmoor, Justin Harrison, Erin Ridge and pianist Patricia McKewen Amato.
Tickets are $20 and available at the door or online at (www. baltimoremusicales.org/ performances/sundays-withestella).
At the door, payments may be made by cash or check, payable to Baltimore Musicales. The concert will be followed by a reception with the artists.
