Everyone of us has different goals and motivations. Just as every buyer is not looking for the identical same house. Therefore what is your goal, what motivates you on those days when you just feel fed up and frustrated to stay consistent in your actions.
As we get older our goals may change if not our motivations.
I remember one of our area VP's once asking everyone in an office meeting what their goal was. I listened to all the lofty goals of selling multi-million amounts of real estate and thought to myself, that is not me. When it got to me my answer was simple.
"I want to sell enough to pay my bills and have enough to go to good restaurants and on the vacations I want to go on."
One of my colleagues said it made her reconsider her answer and potentially adjust her goals.
I can work incredibly hard and work long hours when required, but I also like down time and relaxing and enjoying life. Walking in nature, seeing trees, plants and wildlife around me. Meeting new people and trying new food and drinking good wine, hopefully.
I am not going to take anything with me, so all I need is the necessities. I like helping people and I enjoy being appreciated by my clients when they recognize I have done my best to help them achieve their real estate goals.
It is the same when I volunteer, I do not need to be the head honcho, I am quite happy lifting boxes, or doing whatever is required. I can happily sit on that bench and look out at the sea, or the clouds and just be, enjoying the moment as it is.
Sometimes we can get so wrapped up in what others think we should achieve, or what we think they want us to say, that we lose sight of what we really want.
So, take some time, and think about what it is you want out of life. At my funeral I do not think anyone is going to recite how many millions of dollars of real estate I have sold, but they might talk about the people I have helped and that is more important to me than anything else.
