Motivational Monday…Paying It Forward
This is a day we would all agree needs to be observed daily! Today is Pay It Forward Day! One kind deed or word can be like a pebble that is tossed in the lake. It creates a ripple that keeps going.
Call it whatever you want…Paying it Forward…Showing Kindness to Others…Doing a Good Deed…the results are the same…The giver and recipient both benefit.
Our children learn from us…from what we say, but more than that, from our actions. Through observation, our children emulate the behavior of giving to others.
We’re never too old to learn. When we moved to Delray Beach, I learned a lot about Paying It Forward from our friend and neighbor. He once stood outside a friend’s new business and urged passersby to stop in.
What can you do?
~Offer to return the grocery cart for someone
~Take your neighbor’s garbage can to their garage
~Text or call a friend to see how they’re doing
~Pick up a treat for a friend for no reason.
~Offer to babysit for a friend who needs some “me” time
~If your grocery store has a Food Donation barrel, make it a point to place a can(s) in it every time you go.
The list is long and is ever-changing, but the point is that doing what’s right is never wrong.
What? An Added Bonus??
You know it! When you do something for someone (no matter how big or small), it makes you feel good. You may smile, clutch your hands to your heart…even giggle.
That’s not all. When you pay it forward,
your brain releases good chemicals (Serotonin, Dopamine, and Oxytocin).
Other benefits are lowered blood pressure and less stress.
Make it a special day for someone today!
Only by giving are you able to receive more
than you already have.
