Well as many of you know it's been quite the couple of months for me between surgery and other stuff going on that needed immediate attention here at our house. I am beyond grateful to be exactly where I am today........feeling better and seeing a light at the end of one tunnel. Sure there is a another tunnel (surgery) that must replace the temporary hip.....but that (says the doc) won't be anywhere near as painful and take as long as this past few months. I call that good news!
Here's a few things I've learned about myself this past few months....
1 I really suck at being at home constantly and doing nothing. As in nothing. I'm one of those people that has a lot going on, all the time. 100 to zero is not fun for folks like us!. But the first few weeks I had no choice, I had to sleep, a lot, and I sucked at that too! Then I started watching a few biz shows but got bored with them as my attention span was kind of MIA. But I didn't jump off the pole! I kept my Tude in tact! I talked and texted with friends - a lot. And I kept asking, what else can you make happen Anna...
2 I switched to watching cooking shows and the shows actually distracted me from everything going on and made me laugh......so that was a good thing! Tude improvement activity for sure! Mind you, I had NEVER watched cooking shows before - except for Julia Childs way back in college. I had no idea what I'd been missing out on. Have you watched any cooking shows on the Food Channel? If not, try a few out! It's a whole other world that I didn't know existed! I still find it funny that I'm now aware of so many incredible chefs from all over the world. Fun group of folks! I could have done great in that world......👩🍳Chef Banana!
3. The next step was to invite friends over for dinner! I couldn't and still can't go out to a restaurant (too hard to sit on stiff chairs or walk yet). But having friends over was great next step, once I was up to it! It was so nice to feel like I was finally part of everything again and not stuck at home alone! The only thing that I felt kind of lame about is that Gary had to do all the work.....as in all the cooking (grilling) and cleaning up. Normally we share all that and enjoy doing so. Remember I have always LOVED to cook for friends! And NOW.....I am so looking forward to doing so again soon. But NOW.......I've got a lot more interesting ideas and menu's from watching all those cooking shows!
Moral of the story......gotta keep that TUDE rolling forward!
